Iqbal Society (Department of Philosophy and Department of Persian) organized a very enlightening lecture on "Iqbal's concept of Art" on the 27th November 2006. The coordinator of the event was Ms Ambreen Salahuddin (Deptt of Philosophy). Amjad Mukhtar Chohan, a renowned architect n the designer of "Bab-e-Pakistan" threw light on the topic from various aspects. The stage secretary was Ms Asma Amin (president Iqbal Society). Before the lecture began verses from the Qur'an were recited by Ms Tehseen Zara. Saman Jafferi and Zaima recited kalam-e-Iqbal.
Mr Amjad Mukhtar talked about Iqbal's concept of Art and architecture and its significance for the spiritual growth of Muslims in the light of Iqbal's philosophy. He said that Islamic architecture has been a symbol of Islamic values. He gave examples of the masterpieces of Islamic Architecture and showed pictures using multi-media.
The lecture was followed by a question-answer session. In the end Ms Rafia Nakhat Shah (Head, Deptt. of Persian) delivered the concluding remarks and presented a bouquet and souvenir to Mr Amjad Mukhtar. A large number of students and news reporters were present in the university auditorium to attend the lecture
