International Seminar on Physics 2018 (ISP-18)

The department of Physics LCWU has organized three days International seminar on Physics, (ISP-18) April 17th -19th under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Rehana Zia., Head of the Physics department.

In this Seminar 14 well pronounced Key Note speakers delivered the knowledgeable lectures,  that includes 6 talks by the foreign speakers and 8 talks by our well known researchers covering variety of fields like plasma, material science, nanotechnology, nuclear and radiation based technology and google app based strategies. Physicists and scientists from Pakistan also shared their valuable experiences and ideas with students.

Guests and participants from different universities attended the Seminar enthusiastically to embrace themselves with valuable lectures.

The proceeding started with the recitation of Holy Quran by Dr. Munazza Mohsin.  Prof. Dr. Rehana Zia, HOD Physics Department delivered the Welcome note. Vice Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Uzma Quershi officially inaugurated the seminar with her valuable speech. The worthy Chief Guest Prof. Dr. M. Nizamuddin Chairperson of Punjab Higher Education Commission (PHEC) in his address he emphasized the need of research based education and student should focus their research on the current problem.

In the first day of International Seminar on Physics, 17th April, 2018,  1st session Prof. Dr. Mushtaq Ahmed Ex-director NILOP, an active Physicist with impact factor exceeding 100, delivered an informative and knowledgeable lecture on Optical diagnostics of biological and agricultural samples: Fluorescence & Raman Spectroscopy. Dr. Waqas Masud theoretical Physicist at COMSTAS (ISB) talked on Introduction to Space Plasma. In 2nd session Prof. Dr. Gabor Louis Horn yak, director of the Center of Excellence in Nanotechnology at the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) in Thailand,  gave the interesting  lecture on Doing Nanotechnology, with what you have. After that Dr. Guosong Wu,  professor of Hohai University, Nanjing, China, shared his research on Surface Treatment of Magnesium Alloys via Plasma-based Technologies.

In second day, 18th April, 2018

Poster session was held on 2nd day providing the students an opportunity to present their research.

The activity started with the recitation of Holy Quran by Dr. Munazza Mohsin. 

Firstly, respected Chief guest Prof.  Dr. Hassan Amir Shah (Sitar-e-Imtiaz), Vice Chancellor GC University, Lahore  addressed the participants of the activity. Next speaker was a distinguished Prof. Dr. Pervez Hoodbhoy from Forman Christian College, Lahore. He delivered a lecture about “ Stefen Hawking- The Legacies of a Great Physicist”. In the 2nd session, Prof. Sunandan Baruah from Assan Bosco University India delivered the lecture about “ Innovation through poor Man’s Nanotechnology from Lab to the Market”.  Dr. Robert Lewis from UK  shared his research about Ferroelectric Liquid Crystal and on their Chiral dopant. The last speaker was Dr. Nadeem Sohail from FAST, Lahore. He shared the knowledge about Google App Based Research Strategies”.

At the end of the day, Merit Certificate distribution ceremony was held for the poster competition.

In Third day, 19th April, 2018

On the third day of International Seminar on Physics, 2018 (ISP-18), on 19th April, 2018, during 1st session two foreign physicists Prof. Dr. Dimitar Kolev (Bulgaria), Prof. Dr. Rein Leo Zeinstra (Germany) and one national speaker Prof. Dr. M. ZakaAllah (Professor at Rafi Chuhdri Chair, CASP, GCU) delivered informative and knowledgeable lectures on physics. Among guests of honour there were Prof. Dr. Farhat Saleemi (Vice Chancellor Government College for Women University, Sailkot), Prof. Dr. G. Murtaza (Sitar-e-Imtiaz, Professor at Salam Chair, GCU) and Mrs. Khalida Samar (physicist, educationist). Prof. Dr. Farhat Saleemi shared her experiences with audience. In the end chief guest, well renowned nuclear scientist Dr. Samar Mubarakmand (Sitari-e-Imtiaz) shared his worthy experiences regarding first nuclear test at Chaagi, Balochistan in 1998. Finally head of physics department Prof. Dr. Rehana Zia summed up the event with a thanking all the guests and participants. She said that the seminar provided the unique platform for interaction with leading scientists, researchers, scholars and engineers from academia.
