Solar Power to light up LCWU

16 September 2020:LCWU signed MOU with Punjab Energy Department for the solarization of LCWU campus. The VC, Dr Bushra Mirza inked the MOU with Punjab  Energy  Efficiency and Conservation  Agency.

LCWU and PEECA have entered into Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for provision and installation of solar panel system in LCWU on an Energy Service Company Model and retrofitting of inefficient appliances.

“Installation of the solar system will be a remarkable achievement with zero running cost. It will be environment-friendly and Our electricity bills will cut down drastically because of solar power”, said Dr Bushra Mirza.

LCWU will introduce the solar energy system to provide electricity to its departments, teaching institutes, hostels and residential colony in 1 year after the agreement with ESCO following PEPRA rules.

Whereas the ESCO shall design, install, finance, maintain and operate the solar panel system on the LCWU premises to generate energy savings on an energy-saving performance contracting basis.

This MOU will help LCWU to utilize its roof space to tap the clean solar energy without spending a single penny from its financial resource.
Prof Dr Intesar Ahmed, Dean Faculty of Engineering & Technology is a focal person from LCWU  along with  Muhammad Umar Rana, Lecturer Electrical Engineering Department as a member for deployment of this system.
