Directorate of Faculty Development & Internationalization, LCWU organized 6 days Training session on “Data Analysis using SPSS” by Dr. Asifa Kamal, Head, Department of Statistics, LCWU from 27th – 29th September & 4th -6th October, 2021.It was a very informative and engaging sessions.
More than 40 faculty members and PhD scholars from different Departments of LCWU and also from other institutions like Lahore leads University & DMC/Services Hospital participated in this training sessions.
The opening ceremony of workshop was honored by the worthy VC Professor Dr. Bushra Mirza.
Madam vice chancellor beautifully linked the properties of good estimators in Statistics to get valid results with the real life. She said that educational institutes can only show significant improvement if employees are unbiased, efficient and they show consistent performance. She also shared her views on the importance of Statistics in research and policy formulation. She said that data driven policies can make real changes in the society. She emphasized faculty of LCWU to equip themselves with skills and knowledge of software that help them to analyze data generated through their research projects.
Dr. Bushra Mirza also said that in practical life a person should be unbiased and consistent about his or her decisions, like a good estimator in statistics. As a person we should have a normal or symmetric behavior towards other persons.
Participants took great interest in interactive lectures by an ambitious and competent resource person Dr. Asifa kamal on different areas of SPSS Like SPSS structure, interface, and windows, Data Visualization, Descriptive Statistics, Procedures for Comparing Groups, Procedures for Exploring Relationships, and Day 6 participants Presented their project based on data analysis using SPSS as assignment for participants.
The closing ceremony was graced by Dr Uzma Ashiq Khan, Chairperson GDS, LCWU ,Dr. Mujahida Butt, Chairperson of the Punjabi Department,LCWU Dr. Rehana Kausar, Chairperson of the Urdu Department, LCWU and Dr. Bisma Ejaz, Head ACP, DFDI, LCWU.
The chief guest distributed the certificates among the participants, resource persons and Organizing Committee. Participants highly appreciated the efforts of DFDI for organizing such kind of useful Training. The organizing committee was comprised of Dr. Anjum Tahira, Director DFDI, Ms. Umber Javaid as Coordinators. A much-appreciated support was provided by Mr. Azam Akram and Ms.Rozina Shafique.
