Governor Punjab Inaugurates New Facilities at LCWU

Governor Punjab Muhammad Baligh ur Rehman inaugurated the new building of the Student Service Center, the newly established Business Incubation Center (BIC), and the Youth Development Center (YDC), at Lahore College for Women University (LCWU) here on Tuesday. The ceremony was attended by Vice Chancellor Dr Bushra Mirza, Rector Virtual University Professor Dr Arshad saleem Bhatti, senior faculty, administrative staff, and students.
Speaking on the occasion Punjab Muhammad Baligh ur Rehman Governor Punjab stated that in light of the modern era's digital dominance, the services at the new center at LCWU will bring about positive changes and improve the mental and physical health of students.
He said the inauguration of the Khadija-tul-Kubra Business Incubation Center, Youth Development Center, and Student Service Center marks a significant milestone in Lahore College for Women University's journey towards empowering women, fostering entrepreneurship, and providing comprehensive support to its students. These initiatives align with the university's vision of creating a vibrant educational environment that prepares women to become leaders and catalysts for positive change in society, he added.

Governor Punjab Muhammad Baligh ur Rehman commended the university's efforts in improving facilities at lCWU.

He said, most of the universities in Pakistan were built by PML-N governments. The allocation of the fund for the Kala Shah Kako campus of LCWU in this budget 2023-24 is a commitment of the PMLN Government towards education. Kala Sha Kaku Campus is going to be built for one hundred and seventy crores, so PMN also did this despite limited resources. It is not a trivial thing to create these institutions. It is easy to say and difficult to do, Vote thoughtfully. If someone has a different point of view, respect it, he added.
Vice Chancellor Professor Dr Bushra Mirza shed light on the university's commitment to empowering women through quality education, fostering their participation in Pakistan's socio-economic development.

She stated that LCWU proudly introduced the Youth Development Center (YDC) in collaboration with the Higher Education Commission of Pakistan under the Prime Minister's Youth Program. The YDC will serve as a comprehensive student facilitation centre, providing extensive support services to empower and guide students in their educational journey, she added.
Speaking at the ceremony, Vice Chancellor Professor Dr Bushra Mirza emphasized LCWU's commitment to empowering women through quality education and fostering their participation in Pakistan's socio-economic development. She highlighted the establishment of the Khadija-tul-Kubra Business Incubation Center (K-BIC), named after the first Muslim woman and wife of the Holy Prophet (PBUH). The K-BIC, an Rs40 million project funded by the Higher Education Commission (HEC) and led by ORIC-LCWU in partnership with the Virtual University of Pakistan and Fatima Jinnah Medical University, aims to support and accelerate the growth of start-up companies led by women entrepreneurs. The K-BIC will provide targeted resources, mentorship, capacity-building training programs, and industry linkages to contribute to the country's sustainability and livelihood goals, while also becoming a prominent center of learning for entrepreneurship throughout Pakistan.
Prof Dr Bushra Mirza stated that recognizing the importance of promoting healthy activities, the university has taken a proactive step by offering equal opportunities for all students to access the Fitness Center, Swimming Pool, and Table Tennis Room at a new student service center. These facilities aim to enhance the student's overall well-being and encourage their active engagement in healthy activities.
During the inauguration, Director ORIC Dr Aqsa Shabir, Director Student Affairs Dr Sumera Sajjad, and Director Sports Sumera Sattar provided detailed briefings on the respective departments.
