Admission Regulations

Following are the Admission Regulations formulated under section 23 (2) (iii) of Lahore College for Women University, Lahore, Ordinance 2002.

ADMISSION PROCESS

Online Admission Committee is responsible for admission to undergraduate & postgraduate classes. All departments shall coordinate with Online Admission Committee.

Advertisement in Newspaper and University Website 

ü  Admission Advertisement shall be published in National Newspaper and university website. All the offered programs along-with eligibility criteria and test and interview schedule will on website.

Online Form Submission

ü  University Prospectus will be uploaded on University Website ( www.lcwu.edu.pk) along with the admission schedule  and  all candidates interested in admission will apply online for the admission in  university and carefully fill the admission  form as per instructions uploaded on the University website with all relevant documents as per procedure provided on the University website. 

Note: For all Degree Programs relevant original-colored documents of high resolution will be uploaded by the applicant. 

Scrutiny of forms

ü  After the online form submission, concerned department may scrutinize the forms under the supervision of Admission Committee. 

Eligible Candidates for Test/ Interview 

ü  Lists of eligible candidates for  Test &  Interview for specific disciplines of  BS and all MS & Ph.D. disciplines will be uploaded on university website. 

Test & interview

ü  Candidates who will qualify the basic eligibility criteria of the concerned department shall appear in Test & Interview on the prescribed date / schedule uploaded on university website. 

Display of Final Merit Lists

ü  Final Merit Lists will be generated through MIS and will be displayed on University Website. 

Fee Submission

ü  The provisionally selected candidates shall download Fee Challan from the university website and submit the fee in any branch of National Bank of Pakistan or Bank of Punjab throughout the country. The candidates who will not submit the fee on time, their seats will be cancelled & next Merit will be displayed until the No. of seats at BS & MS are filled.

Commencement of Classes

ü  Commencement of classes will be as per Academic Calendar of the Session, and it will also be displayed on the University Website.  

Registration & Issuance of Roll No 

Every admitted student will be registered and enrolled 

1.    The Classes of BS, MS & PhD of Admitted Candidates will be commenced according to schedule the advertised in the Newspaper and the University website. 

2.    The prospect candidates shall apply online for admission on university website. 

3.    The University will display a list of the provisionally selected candidates on the University website. 

4.    The selected candidates will pay / deposit admission fee and other dues within the notified dates, otherwise their admission will automatically stand cancelled. 

5.    The online admission system of University will not accept an admission form after the due date fixed for the purpose. 

6.    Transfer/ Shifting of online admission form from one department to another will be done. if the candidates applied for the said discipline on the following conditions :- 

              i.        Availability of Seats 

            ii.        Meets the eligibility criteria of the department concerned.  

           iii.        Meets the merit of the department concerned.

Student’s Enrollment in each discipline at BS & MS Level:

·         Total strength of students at BS Level may be 40 - 60 in each program.

·         Total strength of students at MS Level may be 20 - 30 in each program.

(Seats can be increased or decreased depending upon the resources, staff, etc workload must be justified)

Note: Any department can offer self-support program after fulfillment of requirements. Student must visit the university website for the details of Self support programs offered at LCWU at the time of admission.  

Eligibility Criteria of Undergraduate Programs:

·        Female candidate having Intermediate (HSSC) / ‘A’ Level/ equivalent in relevant subject with at least 50% marks are eligible to apply for BS programs.

·        Percentage of marks may be relaxed, if seats are available.

·        The eligibility criteria of the academic programs under the Accreditation Councils will be as per their relevant Council requirement.

·    Any candidate can apply for following subjects  like International Relations, Political Science , Home Economics, Pakistan Studies, History, Persian, Education, Mass Communication, Social Work, Gender Studies, Sociology , Punjabi, Urdu, Arabic, Islamic studies, Economics not offered at inter level are opened for all candidates.  

·   The candidate with F.A(Mathematics/Statistics/Economics), F.Sc (Pre – Medical &Engineering) / I.Com/I.C.S/ A – Level and equivalent are eligible to apply For B.Com/BBA/BPA .

·     For BS Economics candidate who have 50% or above marks in intermediate level. The candidate of General Science, F.Sc (Pre-medical/Pre-Engineering), ICS (Physics/ Economics/ Statistics), I.Com and F.A with Economics & A-level with economics are eligible to apply.

·        For BS Physics, Female candidates having F.Sc. Pre Engineering, F.Sc Pre Medical, ICS/ Equivalent with at least 50% marks are eligible to apply.  Students having Pre-Medical background shall study one (1) non credit deficiency course of Mathematics which will not be reflected in the academics Transcript of the student.

·        For BS Statistics, candidate who have studied Mathematics of 200 marks at intermediate level are eligible to apply along with 50% marks in Intermediate.

·        All degree programs offered at LCWU are run under semester system except Pharm-D & BFA.

·        The candidates are not allowed to change their major subjects unless they have applied for multiple programs and without the consent of the concerned COD. They can change major and minor subjects within 7 working days after commencement of regular classes. No application for the change of subjects will be entertained after 7 working days after commencement of classes.

·        There is no age limit at undergraduate & postgraduate level.

Note: Candidates having incomplete Intermediate Result will not be eligible to apply for admission. 

Eligibility Criteria for BS City & Regional Planning:

·        Admission in BS CRP is on Open Merit for female candidates having at least 60% Marks in FSc,

(Pre-Engineering), ICS ,Gen. Science (Stat, Math, Economics) are also eligible

Eligibility Criteria for B.E. Electrical Engineering :

FSc (Pre-Engineering), / DAE (Electronics / Electrical) / BSc (Math’s, Physics, Chemistry) with 60% marks are eligible to apply for bachelor’s in electrical engineering. The merit of the candidate will be determined according to the following criteria:

Note : UET Entry Test Result for the year ongoing session must  be attached with the submitted form.  Admission will be made on open merit (Punjab domicile). Reserved Seats will be included as per University Criteria

Eligibility Criteria for B. Architecture

F.Sc (Pre- Engineering) / A Level (Pre-Engineering / Intermediate with Physics, Mathematics and Computer Science with Minimum 60% marks.

      Equivalence of A Levels / O Levels for grades issued from IBCC must be attached.

      Aptitude test (English, Mathematics, Drawing and Creative skills)

      It is mandatory for the candidates to pass the test with 50% marks. 

Eligibility Criteria for BS Computer Science:

·    Intermediate or equivalent with Mathematics or Computer Science subject with at least 50% marks.   Equivalence must be from IBCC. 

Eligibility Criteria for BS Software Engineering:

·    The minimum requirements for admission in a Bachelor degree program in Software Engineering is at least 50% marks in Intermediate (HSSC) examination with Mathematics or equivalent qualification with Mathematics certified by IBCC.

Eligibility Criteria for BFA (Bachelor of Fine Arts) 4 years Degree:

·      For BFA (Interior Design, Graphic Design, Textile Design & Visual Arts), female candidates with at least 2nd Division in Intermediate (HSSC) / ‘A’ Level / equivalent.

The merit of the candidate will be determined according to the following Criteria:

Test of Drawing

(Life Drawing/ Still Life Drawing):   40 marks

Aptitude Test (Subject Based):          20 marks

Intermediate with Fine Arts:             10 marks

Interview:                                           30 marks

Total Marks:                                     100 marks

Note:  Drawing Test will be common for all applicants of BFA foundation year. Inclusive to all: Interior Design, Graphic Design, Textile Design & Visual Arts Departments.

Eligibility Criteria for Doctor of Physical Therapy (Regular Program)

   FSc Pre-Medical/ Health Science or equivalent with minimum 60% marks. The candidates having studied Applied Sciences (Physics, Chemistry) and basic Medical Sciences (Anatomy, Physiology) at Intermediate Level are also eligible to apply for Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) program admission on open merit seats as well as reserved seats.

Eligibility Criteria for Pharm-D (Regular Program)

      Only F.Sc. Pre-Medical group with minimum 60% marks and A-Level candidates with Pre-medical subjects and Equivalent grades are eligible to apply for Pharm-D admission on open merit seats as well as reserved seats.

      The Afghan Nationals must route their application for admission through Higher Education Commission, Islamabad within due date.

·         All the reserved seats shall be filled asper inter-se-merit with the approval/consent of Dean of Faculty and Chairperson of the Department concerned (where applicable).  

·         At BS Level special papers are offered in every department and research is not be mandatory for every student. According to HEC, internship and project can be offered depending upon their CGPA.

Reserved Seats for BS Regular Program.

Disability Basis

  • 2% seats are reserved for the disabled and handicapped applicants. Physical disability means disability that cannot be rectified by any equipment. Being short sighted and hard of hearing does not fall under the definition of disability for admission purpose. The candidates must online submit the certificate of their physical disability duly signed by the Medical Superintendent, Services Hospital, Lahore with their forms.

Sports Basis

  • 2% seats are reserved on sports basis. The candidate must attach their Certificates of Board, Division and District level sports competitions and then may appear for sports trail on the dates duly notified on University website.  

Note:             

No Seat / Sports Quota reserved for the Faculty of Science & Technology, Faculty of Engineering   & Technology and Pharm-D. 

Other Provinces Seats 

1.    24 seats are reserved for the candidates of  provinces other then Punjab i.e. 4 each for Sindh, Balochistan, Khyber Pakhtoon khwa, Gilgit Baltistan and 8 seats for FATA

2.    5 seats are reserved for the backward regions of Punjab like Rajanpur& D.G Khan

3.    The candidates from the provinces other than Punjab have to route their application  for the reserved seats to the University Admission  through the concerned Provincial Government along with domicile certificate within due date mentioned in the University Website. Only those candidates who have passed their HSSC Examinations from a college situated in the concerned province shall be eligible to apply for these seats.

Reserved seats for University Employees

1.  2% seats are reserved for the daughters of LCWU University Teaching Faculty on inter-se-merit

2.  2% seats are reserved for the daughters of LCWU University Non-Teaching/ Administrative Staff on inter-se-merit.

Foreign / Overseas seats at Undergraduate level

1.    20 additional seats are reserved in BS programs for Foreign and Overseas candidates. The candidates selected on these seats shall pay $ 1,455/- (US) per annum along with normal fee per year. 

Admission Requirements for Foreign candidates

● Foreign candidates seeking admission to LCWU have to apply for admission directly to the University and get the letter of confirmation of admission.

The rest of the procedure is as follows:

a)    The University will send a copy of the Admission Letter to the HEC.

b)    The HEC Pakistan will confirm and endorse admission after clearance from the Ministry of Interior.

c)    The student will approach the Pakistani Mission abroad for Visa and will submit the following documents

·         Application Form (Student Visa Form)

·         Photocopy of passport

·         Photograph

·         Educational Documents

·         Admission Letter of University

·         All other documents required by the Pakistani Mission abroad.

7.    The Pakistani Mission abroad forwards all the documents to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Islamabad for further processing.

8.    The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Islamabad forwards all documents to the Ministry of Interior for security clearance and a copy to Ministry of Education, Health and HEC, Pakistan.

9.    As per policy the Ministry of Interior takes about four weeks to complete the process and sends Visa advice to the Mission concerned and copy to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and HEC, Pakistan.

10. The HEC sends information of Visa advice to Ministry of Education, Health and LCWU Lahore.

11. Visa to be issued for duration of studies will be renewed annually, inclusive of security clearance

Admission Requirements for Daughters of Overseas Pakistanis.

      i.        General conditions for admission against seats reserved for Overseas Pakistanis Daughters shall be the same as for the candidates applying for admissions to BS Regular Programs.

    ii.        Atleast one of the parent of the candidate must be Pakistani National and is working / engaged in a business in a foreign country.

   iii.        In case a candidate’s parent is employed in a foreign country, they should submit a certificate to that effect from the employer along with proof of residential status. In case a candidate’s parent is engaged in business in a foreign country, they should produce proof of their business/office and residential status along with the Admission Form.

   iv.        The candidate applying on this basis shall apply for admission directly to the University along with the other candidates.

Minority Quota

Two percent (02%) quota of the total seats at BS level is reserved for minorities as per Government of the Punjab, with the condition that the applications meet the minimum eligibility criteria for admission set for open merit.

Hifz-e-Quran

Candidates applying for admission on the basis of Hafiz-e-Quran should:

·         Have a certificate recognized from where they have completed their Hifz e Quran.

·         Pass the oral test to be conducted for all candidates before admission.

·         20 marks will be added to the marks she has obtained in HSSC / ‘A’ Level / Equivalent.

Co-Curricular Activities

  • 2% seats are reserved for co-curricular activities at undergraduate level except council accredited degree programs.
  • A Co-Curricular Committee will recommend Co-Curricular activities (Drama and Music, English and Urdu Debate, Naat and Qiraat, any other) at Undergraduate Level and number of allocated seats to be offered for admission.
  • The applicant shall have to provide certificate(s) in the co-curricular activities at inter college / board / provincial level issued by the concerned education Department / Board / Province.
  • Attested copies of the Co-curricular Certificates must be provided at the time of trials.
  • The applicant shall have to appear for the trials of the Co-curricular Activities according to the Schedule. The schedule will be available on the LCWU website.
  • The applicant recommended by the Societies’ Board/ Committee will be called for interview on the given schedule.
  • The applicant who remains absent or fails in interview shall have no claim to admission.

Note:  General conditions for admission against these reserved seats are the same as laid down for the candidates applying for admission on merit.

Online Admission Forms Requirements

1.    The candidates must read E-Prospectus carefully and apply online at the university website www.lcwu.edu.pk

2.    They have to upload the following original colored documents of high Resolution along with a photograph with blue background   selfies & Photograph taken from mobile phone are not acceptable)

ü  Matriculation Certificate / Equivalent

ü  Intermediate Certificate / Equivalent

ü  Provisional / Character Certificate from the Head of the Institution last attended.

ü  Domicile Certificate.

ü  CNIC/Form B. of the candidate

ü  Monthly Income Certificate of Father / Guardian.

ü  CNIC/Form B. of the candidate’s Father / Guardian.

3.    For BS Electrical Engineering, Student must upload result card of latest UET Entry Test

4.    In case of Foreign / Overseas Candidate:

ü  Attested photocopy of Foreign Passport / Residential Permit.

5.    The selected candidates will be admitted provisionally and the Verification Committee of the University will make final admission after the verification of the documents. If at any stage after the admission it comes to the knowledge of the authorities that the documents presented by the candidate are fake or there is a misstatement or clerical error in the documents, her admission will be cancelled

6.    After payment of dues online, the candidate shall get her Roll No. and section assigned in Online Admission System. 

Terms & Conditions

1.  General Conditions for admission against these reserved seats are the same as laid down for the candidates applying for admission on merit.

2.    The Candidates from Northern Areas and other provinces shall submit their online Admission application against the reserved seats through the Secretary Nomination Board, Northern Areas or through concerned provincial government respectively. Applications of only those candidates will be entertained, who have passed their HSSC Examination from the College situated in the respective Area.

3. For Pharmaceutical Industry Candidates should be nominated by the Pakistan Pharmaceutical Manufacture Association (PPMA) Pharma Bureau. The Candidates will have to pay Rs.82,500 /- Annually Extra, if selected on this reserved seat along with Normal dues and Fees.

POST GRADUATE PROGRAMS

MS ADMISSION

MS is a 2 years degree program with maximum 36 credit hours. The program is divided into four semesters with two semesters in each year. Admission to MS after graduation (16 years of education) shall be made according to the schedule advertised in the leading newspapers and university website. The lists of candidates who qualify the Test & Interview will be displayed on the university website. These candidates will be required to pay admission dues by the dates notified otherwise their seats shall stand cancelled.

Eligibility Criteria

As per policy of the Higher Education Commission (HEC) for admission to MS/M.Phil. programs, the female candidates must meet the following eligibility criteria:

1. Minimum 16 years of education (BS or MA / MSC in the relevant fields) or equivalent

2. The candidate must have obtained 2.50/4.00 CGPA in semester system or 50% marks in annual system

3. Entry Test (50% qualifying marks & interview organized by university is mandatory for admission   in MS program)

Reserved Seats for MS Regular Program.

The candidates who want to apply on reserved seat must select the Reserved Seat Quota in the Online Application Form. They have to qualify test and interview.

1.    Disability Basis

One seat per discipline is reserved for the disabled / handicapped applicant. Physical disability means the disability that cannot be rectified by any equipment. Being short sighted and hard of hearing does not fall in the category of disability for admission purposes. The candidate must upload the proof of her disability duly signed by the MS Services Hospital with her form.

2.    Sports Basis

One seat per discipline in all subjects except Faculty of Science & Technology and Faculty of Engineering & Technology is reserved for “Sports Basis” Only University colour holders are eligible to apply for this seat.

3.    Other Provinces Seats

·         24 seats are reserved for the candidates of other provinces i.e., 4 each for Sindh, Balochistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit Baltistan and 8 seats for FATA.

·         The candidates from the provinces other than Punjab have to route their applications for the reserved seats to the University Admission through the respective Provincial Government along with domicile within due date mentioned in the University Website.

4.    Reserved seats for University Employees  

·         2% seats are reserved for the daughters of University Teaching Faculty on inter-se-merit

·         2% seats are reserved for the daughters of University Non-Teaching/ Administrative Staff on inter-se-merit.

5.    Reserved seats for Foreign candidates

  • One seat per discipline has been allocated for foreign candidates.  Candidates selected on inter se merit shall pay $ 900/- (US) per annum along with regular fee. 

 

6.    Admission requirements for Foreign Candidates:

 Foreign Candidates seeking admission to LCWU have to apply for admission directly to the University and get the letter of confirmation of admission.

The rest of the procedure is as follows:

·         The University will send a copy of the Admission Letter to the HEC.

·         The HEC Pakistan will confirm and endorse admission after clearance from the Ministry of Interior.

3.       As per policy, the Ministry of Interior takes about four weeks to complete the process and sends Visa advice to the Mission concerned and copy to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and HEC, Pakistan.

4.      The HEC sends information of Visa advice to Ministry of Education, Health and LCWU, Lahore.

5.      Visa to be issued for duration of studies will be renewed annually, inclusive of security clearance.

1.    General conditions for admission against these reserved seats are the same as laid down for the candidates applying for admission on merit.

Note:  Qualifying Test and Interview will be compulsory for all the candidates applying on merit as well as on reserved seats.

Admission Requirements for Foreign Candidate:

·         Attested photocopy of Foreign Passport.

·         The selected candidates shall pay the dues by the dates notified otherwise their seats will be cancelled.

·         Due to limited seats in the hostel, hostel seat will be granted on merit only.

·         The candidates from the other universities shall provide NOC from their respective universities.

·         Admission on general seats is granted strictly on merit.

Eligibility Criteria

1.    Female candidates with minimum Eighteen years of education (MPhil/MS) or equivalent in the relevant field are eligible to apply.

2.    The candidate must have obtained 3.00/4.00 CGPA in semester system or First Division (60 % Marks)   in annual system.

3.    Entry test (70% qualifying marks) and interview organized by university is mandatory for admission in PhD program.

Terms & Conditions.

1.    Candidates working in Government / Semi-Government institutions have to submit NOC (No Objection Certificate) from concerned organization.

2.    There is no reserved Quota for admission in PhD Program.

3.    PhD is being offered subject to availability of Seats/ Supervisor.
