Department of Botany organized a Tree Plantation campaign aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). This tree plantation campaign was spearheaded by the Worthy Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sahiba, who brought together the university community, PHA and Forestry Department in a concerted effort to promote planation within Punjab.The primary aim of the campaign is to conserve biodiversity and combat climate change. Under the overarching theme of "Rooting for a Greener Tomorrow, Faculty members, students, and staff united in a collective endeavor to plant trees and advance the goals outlined in the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. The event commenced with an inspiring inaugural ceremony, graced by esteemed faculty members and distinguished guests. Syed Nadeem Abbas, Divisional Forest Officer, Publicity and Extension Division, Lahore, delivered an impassioned speech highlighting the importance of tree planting in combating climate change and preserving biodiversity.Jalil Ahmad Khan, Director Horticulture PHA, Lahore, passionate advocacy for environmental stewardship resonated deeply with the audience. Their insights not only underscored the urgency of addressing environmental challenges but also provided practical strategies and encouragement for individuals to become proactive agents of change.Moreover, Mrs. Wajiha Rauf, representative of Chaaon Foundation had also joined the event. She underscored the importance of integrating tree plantation by planting trees, participants were reminded that even small actions can have a transformative impact on improving the climate for future generations.

The Botanical Society of University Women in Lahore organized this campaign in direct response to escalating environmental challenges, aligning seamlessly with its strategic goals. This initiative supports multiple Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), specifically Goal 13: Climate Action, through efforts to mitigate climate change, and Goal 15: Life on Land, by preserving biodiversity.

After the seminar, participants and guest speakers, including the chief guest, proceeded to the plantation site. Trees were planted by Sec. Education, Punjab, Worthy Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Shagufta Naz, Deans of respective faculties, Directors, and Chairperson, faculty and students of Botany Department, LCWU. They offered prayers for improved climatic conditions in the country and around the globe.
