Brief Statement of Research Interest
Dr. Mehwish Iqtedar has joined Department of Biotechnology in 2009 as Assistant Professor (TTS). She has spearheaded research and development in different areas of Biotechnology. In the research area of Microbial Biotechnology different microbes are investigated for having application in both waste water and solid waste bioremediation also finding novel ideas for microbiological media designing. Whereas in the area of Pharmaceutical Biotechnology bacterial secondary metabolites are investigated as potential drug leads against multi drug resistant pathogens, anticancer agents and many other diseases. Dr. Mehwish has laid the corner stone in initiating the teaching and research in the area of Nanobiotechnology where microbial synthesized nanoparticles are investigated against multidrug resistant pathogens and as anticancer agents. She is also working on designing different drug delivery systems for site specific targeting. She has been awarded with two research projects and throughout performance based increments. Dr. Mehwish has published ~ 78 research articles in prominent journals. She has delivered several invited/keynote/plenary lectures at national and international conferences. Dr. Mehwish has developed several effective research collaborations with the leading research institutes of Pakistan such as University of the Punjab, Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS) and Government College University, Lahore (GCU).
