    Overview

    Software plays a central and underpinning role in almost all aspects of daily life: communications, government, manufacturing, banking and finance, education, transportation, entertainment, medicine, agriculture, and law. The number, size, and application domains of computer programs have grown dramatically; as a result, huge sums are being spent on software development. Most people’s lives and livelihoods depend on this development’s effectiveness. Software products help us to be more efficient and productive. They provide information, make us more effective problem solvers, and provide us with safer, more flexible, and less confining work, entertainment, and recreation environments.

    Software Engineering is the application of a systematic, disciplined and quantifiable approach to the design, development, operation, and maintenance of software systems. It is in fact the practice of designing and implementing large, reliable, efficient and economical software by applying the principles and practices of engineering. The department aims to train students in all aspects of the software life cycle from specification through analysis and design to testing, maintenance and evolution of software products.The Department of Software Engineering is committed to producing highly qualified female software engineers with strong analytical and development skills to deal with the recent challenges in real life and play an effective role in the development of the information technology sector of the country.

    The Department of Software Engineering at Lahore College for Women University Lahore is committed to empowering women and giving them an opportunity to become highly professional software engineers who can cope with modern challenges by providing them with an excellent learning and research environment. The faculty of the Department of Software Engineering graduated from renowned national and foreign universities.  They are all experts in various core areas of software engineering and leave no stone unturned to empower software engineering students to cope with the current challenges of the software industry. The experience of the faculty members in software development and their linkage in various industries will also play an important part in grooming the capabilities and morale of female students according to the recent trends of the software market.
