    Outcome

    The course is designed to enable the Textile Design student to apply professional industry principles to job situations. Experience gained as a result of this familiarizes the student with career options and the necessary skills and preparation to obtain them. The four-year degree program will provide students with the current portfolio requirements for the fashion and Textile industries.

    Learning Objective

    These courses are designed to inculcate the ability to perform higher in order thinking skills and articulate visual and art historical concepts in verbal and written forms, through the medium of BFA Textile Design program that equips students with in depth knowledge of designing and developing woven textiles, embroidery and embellishment, textile surface development, fabric manipulation, mixed media textiles, textiles dying and printing and constructed textiles. The courses explores the challenging world of Fashion and clothing that can be called material zeitgeists of culture. This course addresses the influences, affinities, and relationships of fashion, the visual arts and culture. The psychological and sociological influences of dress, the physical aspects of appearance, and the influences of gender, sexuality, ethnicity, and class on the development of personal identity are explored through the study of style in traditional cultures, popular culture and everyday life. Readings, discussions and research enhance the student's skills in interpreting and articulating their understanding of art, fashion, clothing and culture. Historical Design development: apparel, furnishing, costume, textile arts and non-apparel. Cultural factors that influence designs and designers: textile production and textile art forms, textile as a medium for self-expression and communication across cultures and civilizations and as a source of inspiration for contemporary textile designers.

    It is my pleasure to extend a warm welcome to all the students, faculty, and visitors to our dynamic program in Textile Design offering a 4-year bachelor's degree. The focus of the extensive scheme of study is to link rich traditional textile practices of our culture with innovative industrial applications that are beneficial for the future. We offer our students a wide variety of opportunities to explore textile techniques from advanced digital textiles to hand crafted and hand women fabrics, embellished surface techniques and print design. I am proud of my dedicated faculty who are providing an enriching learning environment for our students. Our graduates are skilled in sustainability and cultural identity focusing on women empowerment as entrepreneurs.

    2016 onward

    • 19th February Photography workshop of 4th year BFA 2012-16 at Faisal Ameer Studio, Garden Town for indoor studio photography. Students were taken with Ms. Ayesha Bilal (faculty Graphic Design Dept, LCWU) who is conducting the course along with Ms. Mahrukh Khan the class teacher and dept. coordinator. Timings: 10:00 am – 05:00 pm.

    • Seminar on ‘Education in 21st Century’ conducted by DFDI 4th February, 2016- 26th February, 2016, timings 2-4pm attended by Ms. Anam Saeed and Ms. Saba Mujeeb Baig.

    • Mime on Women’s Day 8th march, 2016 participation by Textile Department students, teachers on duty: Ms. Sana Tayyab and Ms. Mahrukh Khan as focal persons and Prop arrangement. Ms. Saba Mujeeb Baig, Ms. Farhana, Ms. Fatima Rizvi: (Transport) and Ms. Anum Saeed. Venue: Awan-e-Iqbal

    • Competition participation 23rd March, 2016 Pakistan day by Textile Design Students in wall Painting and Poster Design. Ms Mahrukh Khan and Ms. Anum Saeed conducting Poster Competition and Ms. Fatima Rizvi for Wall painting.

    • Annual Exhibition of BFA-II and III in NHQ Gallery was held on 22nd April, 2016 inaugurated by Dr. Uzma Qureshi, the Vice Chancellor of LCWU.

    • Thesis Display of first batch 2012-16 Textile Design Department at Alhamra Art Gallery, 6th June, 2016, inaugurated by the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Uzma Qureshi, supervised by Ms. Mahrukh Khan and Mr. Ali Qambar under the headship of Dr. Samina Nasim.

    • August, 2016 Departmental Display at Expo Centre, Lahore for three days.

    • Students of Textile Design Dept. ACP and facilitator Ms. Mahrukh Khan attended the Seminar at PC Hotel of Bargad Organization for Youth Development on 19th July, 2016. The students and faculty signed the youth petition wall.

    • Ms. Anum Saeed organized a workshop on OFF-Loom weaving on 23rd November, 2016 for three days (BFA-III) conducted by Asad Ali Abid, PU sculptor/Textile Designer.

    • Lecture/Seminar conducted by Dubai based Company: Tee-design in lecture hall on 24th November, 2016 for online free lancing and competition registration. Attended by the complete department students and faculty.

    • MOU signed with Hibai Normal University, China.

    • Poster competition “Custom day”student of Textile Design 2016 -2020 student  Labeebah Mubashra special prize winner of certificate and 10,000Rs ,Date 26 jan 2017 ,venue Alhamra Hall, Organised by custom house.

    • Women Expo 2017 from 13th October, 2017 to 15th October, 2017 at Lahore Heritage Museum (stall management and sales for Textile Design Dept) LCWU. The event was organized by Punjab Board of Investment and Trade (PBIT), Investment Climate Reform Unit (ICRU), Punjab Women Development Department (PWDD) and Women Chamber of Commerce and Industry (WCCI). Dr. Samina Nasim and Ms. Mahrukh Khan organized the stall and attended the inauguration ceremony.

    Vision

    The Textile Design Department is offering professional four year’s degree program of BFA Textile Design. The current enrolment of 400 students in Textile Design Morning and Evening Program are enthusiastically learning the ability to think, draw, write, and design innovative textile prints and surfaces. The BFA Textile Design program equips students with in depth knowledge of designing and developing woven textiles, embroidery and embellishment, textile surface development, fabric manipulation, mixed media textiles, textiles dying and printing and constructed textiles fulfilling the demands of fashion and textile design industries. Through these engaging studio and interactive sessions, you will be able to develop skills and knowledge related to CAD and hand-crafted design along with a deeper understanding of commercial aspects of the industry. They develop a portfolio, take a professional direction and work towards a final project. Students are encouraged to learn from tradition and evolve their work towards market sustainability and contemporary sensibilities.
