Allama Muhammad Iqbal Day Celeberations
" Essay Writing Competition and a declamation contest was arranged in connection with Independence Day celebration by the Urdu Department of LCWU. The event was held on 3rd August, 2017 at Student Service Centre. . Ex registrar Prof Riffat Saqlain was the chief guest. Event titled “ Is parcham key saaye taley hum ek hen” was organized by Urdu Department in seminar hall. Students from different departments participated and expressed their views on importance of unity of the nation.
Vice Chancellor Dr Uzma Quraishi, faculty and staff joined the event. In her address, the VC said that Pakistan is our identity that we earned through immense sacrifices.
The programme was consisted of two parts, Essay Writing competition followed by Urdu declamation contest.
In Essay Writing Competition, Students were given the following topic to write essays.

While in Declamation contest, students presented their speeches on the topics related to Independence Day. They emphasized on the importance of a separate homeland for the Muslims of the sub-continent and also paid tribute to the struggle of the Muslims of the sub-continent under the dynamic leadership of Quaid-e- Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah. After the declamation contest was over, the judges announced the results. Afterwards, prizes were distributed to the winners. Head of Urdu Department presented her vote of thanks and concluded the ceremony.

A Literary Sitting With Baba Muhammad Yahya Khan
Urdu Literary society arranged a literary sitting with a renowned Mystic Baba Muhammad Yahya Khan. It was a brief introduction of his Novels, Piya Rang Kala, Kajal Kotha. Students participated very keenly and enjoyed the special moments with Baba sahib.

A Lecture By Professor Ahmed Rafiq Akhtar
Urdu Literary society organized a lecture on the topic of “Apna Muqqam Peda Kr” on 23rd November 2012. The Lecture was very informative and comprehensive at the given topic. He said that as a Muslim we should do something new. By our religious and spiritual abilities we can get our lost empire.

A Lecture by Orya Maqbool Jan
A lecture was held by Urdu Literary society.The chief guest of this meeting was renowned columnist, religious scholar and Bureaucrat " Orya Maqbool Jan".
Orya Maqbool Jan is a renowned columnist, poet and CSS officer from Pakistan, who writes Urdu columns for Daily Express, Pakistan. He has received numerous national awards, including the best Urdu columnist in 2004. Orya Maqbool Jan is Very Religious man and his mostly columns related to Islamic solutions of man generated problem. He wrote the book of his columns as "Harf E Raaz". The topic of this lecture was” Where we Muslims Stand at this Era” under the programe named," Kuch Sawalaat Oria kay saath".
All the faculty members Urdu Deptt including the Head of Deptt of Urdu Literature, Mass Communication, Education and Islamiyat attended this meeting.All students of Urdu, Persian, Philosophy and Mass Communication Deptt were also present at the moment.

A literary sitting with HASHIM NADEEM was held under the kind control of Urdu literary Society. Hashim Nadeem is a novelist.
