• The Higher Education Commission (HEC) organized a specialized training session titled QECAC Capacity Building: Implementing Quality Assurance Standards in Affiliated Colleges (ACs), held on the 18th and 19th of December 2024. The session aimed to enhance the capacity of Quality Enhancement Cells (QECs) and Quality Enhancement Cells for Affiliated Colleges (QECACs) in public sector universities.
  
  
• The Training was attended by Mr. Hadi Iqtadar (Director QEC), Ms. Annam Tariq (QA Manager/Focal Person QECAC), and Ms. Arifa Shaukat (Assistant Professor/Nominee, Government Graduate College for Women, Gulberg). It proved to be highly informative and beneficial for the implementation of revised quality assurance standards (PREE/RIPE) and for strengthening the credibility of affiliated colleges.

•      Progress Review Meeting of QECs and Consultative Workshop

Quality Assurance Agency (QAA) HEC team in Lahore organized, Progress Review Meeting of QECs and Consultative Workshop for Understanding and Effective Implementation of Pakistan's Precept, Standards, and Guidelines for Quality Assurance in Higher Education (PSG-2023) from 24th to 26th April 2024. 30 different Universities from all over punjab participated in meeting. Director QEC, LCWU Mr. Hadi Iqtadar participated in the meeting and trainings and also informed HEC about the recent initiatives taken by the QEC and Alumni working of LCWU.The significant event was held in collaboration with Forman Christian College University. The consultative workshop signifies a pivotal step forward in advancing quality assurance practices and transforming the HEIs across Pakistan.The consultative workshops will continue until May 18, 2024, and will serve as a platform to promote understanding and effective implementation of PSG-2023; highlighting its pivotal role in upholding and enhancing educational standards across Pakistan.

•  Ms. Annam Tariq QA-Manager participated in 4^th International Conference PNQAHE and Annual General Meeting and workshop at Islamabad from 3-5 March 2024.

Internal MS/MPhil and PhD Review Visit 2021-22

•    Punjab SDGs Support Unit and LCWU would collaborate on the awareness on SDGs. In this respect Punjab SDGs Support Unit would help LCWU in streamlining all its activities in context of SDGs.

•    It was also decided that all such activities would also be mentioned on the websites of LCWU as well as Punjab SDGs Support Unit.

•    LCWU will frame all its projects in the light of the guidance from the Punjab SDGs Support Unit and different international agencies.

•    It was also agreed that both institutes would start their working for a dynamic MOU.

Online Continuous Professional Development Seminar on "The Future of Smart Cities" Organized by DEE, LCWU in Collaboration with PEC, 19^th December 2024

The Department of Electrical Engineering (DEE) at Lahore College for Women University (LCWU), in collaboration with the Pakistan Engineering Council (PEC), successfully conducted an online Continuing Professional Development (CPD) seminar on the topic "Future of Smart City" on December 19, 2024. This event aimed to provide a platform for knowledge sharing and collaboration among professionals, students, and faculty members, focusing on the transformative potential of smart city technologies in shaping sustainable urban futures.

Mr. Atif Jamil is a seasoned Solution Director and expert in Smart City technologies, 5G, IoT, AI, and digital smart city platforms. Mr. Atif actively contributes his wisdom and experiences for emerging technologies research and innovative digital solutions development to create citizen centric value across key city stakeholders for the future smart city developments. This session provided an opportunity to foster collaboration between industry and academia. Participants shared innovative ideas, including concepts for fully automated future smart cities, improving air quality, integrating autonomous cars with existing safe and smart city implementations in Pakistan, and enhancing public health using biomedical sensing technologies.

Discussions also touched on how robots could become part of the human workforce in the future, the key research areas for developing future talent, and potential publications for LCWU to contribute to smart city advancements in Pakistan. Mr. Atif highlighted the latest advancements in smart city development, emphasizing the integration of digital solutions to enhance urban infrastructure, improve resource efficiency, and create more livable environments. His in-depth analysis and practical examples inspired attendees to adopt innovative approaches to urban planning and development.

The seminar attracted a diverse group of professionals from leading organizations, including representatives from Fescon (Pvt) Limited, Sindh Building Control Authority, Solutions Engineering Pvt Ltd, Energy Alternatives, and the National University of Sciences and Technology (NUST). The presence of industry experts such as project engineers, assistant directors, marketing executives, and academic professionals enriched the discussions and illuminated the real-world challenges and opportunities associated with smart city initiatives.

Additionally, students and faculty members from LCWU attended the seminar with great enthusiasm. The event provided valuable insights into the future of urban development and demonstrated the role of emerging technologies in addressing critical urban challenges, such as population growth, environmental sustainability, and resource optimization.

The seminar concluded with an engaging question-and-answer session, where participants actively interacted with Mr. Atif Jamil. The session encouraged meaningful discussions on the benefits, drawbacks, and scalability of smart city solutions. Attendees also shared their perspectives and posed thoughtful questions, which Mr. Atif addressed comprehensively. The DEE at LCWU remains committed to fostering academic and professional growth by organizing such impactful seminars and collaborative events. By bridging the gap between academia and industry, the department continues to empower the next generation of engineers to lead the way in technological innovation and sustainable development.
