National Youth Forum on Mountain Issues

Habiba Ramzan, student of BS Semester VII, Department of Botany, attended three days workshop which was arranged by National Youth Forum on Mountain Issues and Post 2015 Development Agenda 25-27 October, Islamabad. It was Corresponded by Asia Pacific Youth Force on Rio+20 (volunteer commitment of Asia Pacific youth), International Centre for Integrated Mountain Development (ICIMOD) and Mountain & Glacier Protection Organization (MGPO). She coined the idea of Geography channel for Pakistan.

Isolation and Enhancement of Stevioside from In Vivo and In Vitro Grown Stevia rebaudiana

Dr. Sumera Javad, Lecturer of Dept. of Botany has successfully completed her PhD. Her thesis entitled as “Isolation and Enhancement of Stevioside from In Vivo and In Vitro Grown Stevia rebaudiana” was completed under supervision of Prof. Dr. Bushra Mateen and co-supervision of Prof. Dr. Shagufta Naz. She was notified for PhD Degree in Botany after successful defense on 10th of December 2013. Her thesis was evaluated by two eminent professors of top ranking Universities of USA.

Youth Festival Celebrations

Amber Shahzadi
and Faiza Ghaffar, MS students of Botany Department, got 4th position in cut flower arrangement (Youth Festival Celebrations), organized by Punjab Horticulture Society in Jillani Park. Mian Javed, Director PHA, awarded them the trophy.

PhD degree in Botany

  • Dr. Zeb Saddique and Dr. Alya Maimoona, Assistant Professors of Department of Botany, Lahore College for Women University (LCWU) were notified for PhD degree in Botany after successful defense of their theses in February 2013. Their research work and theses were greatly appreciated by the two external evaluators from universities of UK and Netherland for collection of wealth of data. The research was financially supported by HEC under the Indigenous Fellowship Scheme.
  • Dr. Zeb. Siddique, Assistant Professor of Dept. of Botany, has been awarded with “Productive Scientist Award” of 2013 from Ministry of Science & Technology of Pakistan for her splendid research publications.
  • A student of Dr. Sumera Iqbal, Sara Sadaf has received 2nd prize in poster presentation at “International Conference on Biotechnology: Prospects & Challenges in Agriculture, Industry, Health and Environment “ held at National Institute for Biotechnology & Genetic Engineering (NIBGE), Jhang Road, Faisalabad, Pakistan April 22-26, 2013.
