As the first female Chairperson of the Department of Electrical Engineering at Lahore College for Women University, it is both an honor and a responsibility to lead a department rooted in academic excellence, innovation, and empowerment. At DEE, we are not only nurturing engineers—we are building the next generation of confident, skilled, and visionary female leaders who are ready to shape the future of science, technology, and society.
Our department stands proudly as a symbol of excellence, being among the few in the country with Level II accreditation under the Outcome-Based Education (OBE) system, recognized by the Pakistan Engineering Council which is a full signatory of the Washington Accord. This means our graduates hold a globally recognized degree, placing them shoulder to shoulder with engineers from 25+ technologically advanced nations. This is a significant achievement for LCWU and every girl who dares to dream big.
We are committed to creating an inclusive, forward-thinking environment where our students are trained not only in core engineering principles but also in emerging areas such as artificial intelligence, embedded systems, digital security, and sustainable energy. The launch of our Computer Engineering stream within the Electrical Engineering program reflects our drive to remain relevant and visionary in a rapidly evolving digital world.
DEE is more than just a department; it is a movement to equip women with the tools, mindset, and courage to lead in spaces where they’ve long been underrepresented. Our graduates have made their mark across global industries, academia, and leadership roles, and I have no doubt that the best is yet to come.
I welcome you to join us on this transformative journey. Together, we will continue to redefine possibilities for women, for engineering, and for the world.
Dr. Sadia Murawwat
