Department of Electrical Engineering

Overview

The Department of Electrical Engineering (DEE) at Lahore College for Women University is committed to empowering female engineers with world-class education, innovation-driven training, and industry-aligned skills to meet the dynamic challenges of the modern era. Our department proudly holds Level II accreditation under the Outcome-Based Education (OBE) system, awarded by the Pakistan Engineering Council (PEC) a full signatory of the Washington Accord. This recognition ensures that our B.E. Electrical Engineering degree is internationally acknowledged and equivalent to degrees in over 25 advanced countries that are part of the Washington Accord, including the USA, UK, Canada, Australia, and more.

Since its inception, DEE has maintained a consistent standard of excellence. We have successfully received PEC accreditation for all graduating cohorts starting from 2004–2008 up to 2018–2022, with the most recent Level II accreditation granted for batches from 2021 to 2025. The department implemented the OBE system in Fall 2018, aligning our curriculum, assessment methods, and learning outcomes with international quality standards.

Our current undergraduate enrollment stands at approximately 150 students. In addition to our thriving undergraduate program, the department has been offering a Master of Science (MS) in Electrical Engineering since 2013, producing graduates who contribute significantly to national and international organizations. Our alumni are making an impact across diverse sectors, including telecommunications, electronics, power systems, academia, and management.

DEE has expanded its vision by launching a specialized stream in Computer Engineering within the B.E. Electrical program started in Fall 2024. This forward-thinking initiative is designed to equip students with cutting-edge skills in areas like embedded systems, AI, cybersecurity, and digital design by ensuring they remain agile and competitive in the evolving global tech landscape.

At DEE-LCWU, we are not just educating engineers; we are shaping female leaders and innovators who are ready to excel on a global stage.
