Under the visionary leadership of Prof. Dr. Uzma Qureshi, Vice Chancellor, Lahore College for Women University (LCWU), a one-day training session on Real-Time PCR (RT-PCR) was successfully organized on October 2, 2025, at the Molecular Diagnostic Lab (MDL), Central Research Lab, LCWU. The session was led by experts from H.A Shah and Sons, Mr. Talha Umair and Mr. Waleed, who elaborated on the applications and operations of RT-PCR and its pivotal role in disease diagnosis, research, and innovation.
The training was meticulously organized by Engr. Farooq Bashir (Chief Equipment Maintenance Engineer, LCWU), Engr. Talib Mahmood (Senior Equipment Maintenance Engineer, LCWU), Dr. Iram Waqar and Mr. Ali Usman.
Distinguished faculty members, including Dr. Rasheeda Bashir (Professor, Department of Biotechnology), Dr. Rukhama Haq (Assistant Professor, Biotechnology), and Dr. Mahnoor Pervaiz (Assistant Professor, Department of Zoology), along with young researchers, actively participated in the interactive session.
The training not only enhanced understanding and learning about RT-PCR applications but also highlighted its critical role in molecular diagnostics. Participants were inspired by the availability of high-tech equipment like RT-PCR at LCWU and acknowledged its significance in fields like Biotechnology, Zoology, and Pharmacy.
