Women Empowerment & Mentoring Program (WEMP) 2025

Interactive Session with Dr Noor Amina Malik, MD NAHE and Program Management Committee' Meeting was held at LCWU, Lahore, October 24, 2025.Under the the inspiring leadership of worthy vice chancellor Prof. Dr. Uzma Quraishi the second cohort of Women Empowerment and Mentoring program is successfully completed. Lahore College for Women University (LCWU) organized a significant meeting of the Program Management Committee of the Women Empowerment & Mentoring Program (WEMP), followed by an interactive session with Managing Director, National Academy of Higher Education (NAHE), Dr. Noor Amna Malik. The session brought together the mentors and mentees of the 2nd Cohort of WEMP, highlighting the institution’s continued commitment to women’s leadership, professional development, and empowerment in higher education.The Program Management Committee's meeting was attended by Prof. Dr. Farzana Rashid (Convener Program Management Committee), Dr. Tahira Kalsoom (Secretary WEMP Management Committee), Prof. Dr. Fakhra Aziz (Focal Person for WEMP at LCWU), and Dr. Afifa Khanam ( head, FacultyDevelopmentCentre), where important deliberations were made regarding future dimensions, expansion, and sustainability of WEMP. Mr. Ghulam Nabi, Director General, HEC Regional Office Lahore, also participated in the meeting and shared his views on various dimensions of empowerment and mentoring. The Honorable Vice Chancellor of LCWU, Prof. Dr. Uzma Quraishi, thanked Dr. Noor Amna Malik for the insightful and fruitful discussion, and presented souvenirs to both Dr. Noor Amna Malik and Mr. Ghulam Nabi. Prof Dr Uzma Quraishi, appreciated the efforts of WEMP team, Prof Dr Fakhra Aziz (Focal person for program), Prof. Dr Farzana Rashid, Convenor Program Management Committee, Prof. Dr Neelma Munir, member Program Management committee, Dr Afifa Khanum, Head, Faculty Development Centre and Dr Tahira Kalsoom, Secretary Management Committee. The Vice Chancellor particularly commended the efforts of Dr Tahira Kalsoom for her major role in making the program a great success for LCWU.

In her keynote interactive discourse, Dr. Noor Amna Malik emphasized the importance of mentoring, women’s support networks, and collaborative leadership models. She shed light on workplace challenges faced by women, the global evolution of mentorship programs, and the crucial role women can play in strengthening one another. She encouraged mentees to embrace confidence, collaboration, innovation, and self-growth, linking empowerment with national development.
The session was organized and conducted by Dr. Tahira Kalsoom, who welcomed the esteemed guests and participants. The program formally opened with the recitation of the Holy Quran by Dr. Afifa Khanam. Dr. Noor Amna Malik then led an engaging and participatory interactive session with mentors and mentees, who shared their learning experiences and success stories from the cohort.

Acknowledging NAHE’s support and commending the efforts of the WEMP team, participants expressed their appreciation. They reiterated that empowering women professionals ultimately strengthens institutions, families, and society.

The ceremony concluded with the distribution of certificates to mentors and mentees on the successful completion of the 2nd Cohort of the Women Empowerment & Mentoring Program at LCWU. The event reflected LCWU’s unwavering dedication to promoting confidence, competence, and leadership among women in academia and beyond.
