LCWU Hosts International Seminar Showcasing PERIDOT Phase IX Findings

IRC, DFDI, and the Geographical Society, organized an International Seminar titled “Hydro-Geomorphic Dynamics of Sediments in the Indus Basin: From Erosion to Reservoir Sustainability” on 9 December 2025 in Sirajuddin Committee Room LCWU. The event presented key research outcomes of the PERIDOT Phase IX mobility grant under the Franco-Pakistani Hubert Curien Partnership, led in Pakistan by Dr. Nausheen Mazhar (PI, LCWU) and in France by Dr. Paul Passy (PI, University of Paris).
Prof. Dr. Safdar Ali Shirazi, Director (Retired), Institute of Geography, University of the Punjab and Prof. Dr. Zohra Nazir Kiyani, Director DFDI, were the Chief Guests.The Speakers included Dr. Paul Passy (PI), Lecturer, University Paris Cite, Dr. Muhammad Ali (Co-PI, Pakistan side), Assistant Professor, NCEG, University of Peshawar and Ms. Nimra Arshad (Research Associate), PhD Student, Department of Geography, LCWU. Speakers shared insights on sediment dynamics, soil erosion modelling in the Indus Basin, and its impacts on Tarbela reservoir’s sustainability. The seminar concluded with a vote of thanks and souvenir distribution.
