Empowering young voices to build safer digital spaces.
The Department of Gender & Development Studies, LCWU, in collaboration with UNDP and Digital Rights Foundation, organized a panel discussion and workshop titled “End digital/tech-based gender-based violence (TRGBV) against all women and girls.” The event aimed to raise awareness about tech-facilitated GBV, relevant legal frameworks, protection mechanisms, and redressal avenues. It empowered university students with knowledge and tools to promote safer, more inclusive digital spaces.
Dr. Samuel Rizk resident representative UNDP highlighted the issue’s urgency in his keynote. The panel discussion, “From Hashtag to Action: Tackling Tech-Facilitated Gender-Based Violence in Pakistan,” was moderated by Van Nguyen, featuring experts from NCHR, Digital Rights Foundation, and She-her Pakistan. Closing remarks by Ms. Hina Pervaiz Butt emphasized inter-agency collaboration and encouraged use of the 1737 helpline for support. Following the panel discussion, a group of 45 students participated in the workshop titled “Beyond the Screen: Navigating the Online Space for Women and Girls between Challenges and Opportunities". The department of education, sports, mass communication and DSA supported for the execution of the event.
