Faculty of Visual Arts Department received Young Artist’s Award at Annual Young Artist’s Exhibition, 2019
Visual Arts Department is blessed to have promising visual artists who are practicing devotedly. Ms. Sidra Liaqat is one of the talented young staff members who is working as a Lecturer of Visual Arts from the last five years. She is a contemporary miniature painter and has got two gold medals in her academic career. Besides this, she has also received four awards at the Annual Young Artist’s Exhibition. This exhibition provides a platform to the young emerging artists from all over Pakistan to participate and exhibit their paintings, drawings, sculptures, ceramics, printmaking and video art on annual bases. Visual Arts Department feels proud to announce that in the 15th Annual Exhibition of Young Artists by the Lahore Arts Council organized at Alhamra Art Gallery held on 10th April 2019, Ms.Sidra Liaqat has been honored to receive the award for the top ten best artworks on her miniature painting titled as “Brush knitted metaphors”. Her work was very well appreciated by the artist fraternity and the viewers coming from diverse backgrounds.

The Visual Arts Department, under the supervision of Director IVAD Dr. Rifaat Saif Dar, organized the Exhibition of Wood Cut by an internationally renowned printmaker Mr. Mahboob Ali, in the Naseem Hafiz Qazi Gallery, IVAD on 20th March 2018. The exhibition was inaugurated by the former foreign minister of Pakistan, Sardar Asif Ahmed Ali. The event was graced by the well known members of the artist community, the faculty of LCWU and the students. The art works portray the built heritage of Lahore, landscape and portraits in the wood cut technique. The exhibition aimed to revive the manual skill of print making in this technical era. The exhibition will continue till 22nd March 2018.

Hebei Normal University Shijhazuang, China celebrated International week and organized teachers International Art Exhibition from 15th November 2017 to 22rd November 2017, at the Museum Gallery of the University. The prominent teachers from Hebie Nornal University China, Chungnam National University Korea and Lahore College for Women University Lahore participated in this week and exhibited their excellent created works. During this International week four artists belong to Lahore College for Women University successfully displayed their Solo Shows. The 13th Annual Exhibition of Young Artists was organized by the Lahore Arts Council at Alhamra Art Gallery on 5th April 2017. Young artists from all over Pakistan participated in the exhibition. A faculty member of Visual Arts, Sidra Liaqat, serving as lecturer at the Institute of Visual Arts & Design stood among the top ten award winning artists.

1. Group Show of ceramics by the students of BFA-IV entitled “Objects of Inspiration” at Coopera Art Gallery on 15th, January, 2013. The show was inaugurated by the Incharge of IDVA Prof. Dr. Rifaat Saif Dar, artists and art lovers encouraged the artists of the show for their creative visual art work.
2. Solo show of MS (Studio Practice) student Andleeb Rana entitled “Contexture of Time” at Coopera Art Gallery on 17th, December, 2013. The artist used her intellectual approach in preserving her visual gesture. She has tried to portray and emphasized the limitation of time and space in the evaluation of her life, she would want to edit some events of her life if she got the chance to. For that she has used cut out, digital media, stenciling, and mix media etc. The exhibition was inaugurated by the Principle of National College of Arts Dr. Murtaza Jaffery. The show got appreciation from the media and from the viewers as well.
3. Solo show of MS (Studio Practice) student Amna Ahmad entitled “Reflection of Subconscious through Doodling” at Coopera Art Gallery on 29th, November, 2013. The show was inaugurated by the Principle of PUCAD, Prof. Maliha Azami Agha. The artist received great appreciation from the art lovers.
