A Special Lecture on the International Day for the Prevention of Violent Extremism

To observe the International Day for the Prevention of Violent Extremism, held in February 2026, the Department of International Relations organized a special lecture series.

The initiative was taken by Prof. Dr. Shabnam Gul, who launched the series with the aim of promoting awareness about violent extremism and the role of academia in preventing it. She specifically directed Dr Maryam Azam to deliver special lectures in different classes of the department.

Dr. Mariam Azam conducted interactive sessions with BS, MS, and PhD students. In her lectures, she highlighted the important role women can play in combating violent extremism and emphasized how educational institutions have great potential to promote peace, tolerance, and critical thinking. She encouraged students to actively participate in anti-violence initiatives and to become agents of positive change in society.
