Webinar on Iqbal and Peace organized by Department of Persian

A webinar titled “Iqbal and Peace" was organized by the Peace, Interfaith Harmony, and Prosperity Centre, Persian Department at LCWU under the patronage of Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Uzma Quraishi.

Dr. Sara Bukhari opened the session by introducing its theme, thoughtfully connecting the poetry of Allama Iqbal with the ideals of peace and harmony. In her remarks, the Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Uzma Quraishi highlighted Iqbal’s concept of Khudi, emphasizing the importance of nurturing responsible and peace-oriented youth in today’s conflict-ridden world.

Prof. Dr. Faleeha Zahra Kazmi appreciated the establishment of the Interfaith Harmony and Peace Centre, recognizing it as a meaningful step toward fostering unity and mutual understanding. Mr. Muhammad Saleem Mazhar spoke about peace through the teachings of Jalaluddin Rumi and Allama Iqbal, encouraging mutual respect and active youth engagement.

Brig. (R) Dr. Waheed Uz Zaman addressed ongoing global conflicts, pointing out the absence of effective peace mechanisms and critically reflecting on the role of the United Nations. H.E. Mehran Movahedfar highlighted the importance of Muslim unity, referred to Iqbal’s vision of a separate Muslim state, and shared insights on current issues related to Iran.

The session concluded with Prof. Kazmi underscored the vital role of academic institutions in promoting peacebuilding, followed by a vote of thanks delivered by Dr. Sara Bukhari.
