DFDI has been elected of DesertNet International for the term 2026–2029

LCWU proudly announces that Dr. Nausheen Mazhar, Chairperson and Associate Professor, Department of Geography, Head IRC, DFDI, has been elected to the Steering Committee of DesertNet International for the term 2026–2029. DesertNet International is a global scientific network closely aligned with the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification, focusing on issues of desertification, land degradation, and drought. Its Steering Committee, elected by the General Assembly, plays a key role in guiding the organization's scientific and strategic direction. 

Dr. Mazhar’s election is a significant achievement for both LCWU and Pakistan, strengthening the country’s representation in international science–policy platforms. Her role is expected to enhance global collaboration, support evidence-based policymaking, and promote sustainable land management practices in line with Land Degradation Neutrality, particularly contributing towards SDG 15.3 Land Degradation Neutrality.
