A delegation from the Higher Education Commission (HEC) visited Lahore College for Women University (LCWU) on April 23, 2026, to conduct the final monitoring and close-out review of the second phase of the USAID Merit and Need-Based Scholarship Program (MNBSP).
The delegation, led by Ms. Ayesha Ikram, Director General (HRD), met with the Vice Chancellor of LCWU, Prof. Dr. Uzma Quraishi. During the meeting, Ms. Ikram discussed the strategic agenda of the MNBSP and highlighted the program's impact on female education since its launch in 2013. USAID Scholarship program was initiated in 2014 and complete in 2023 with 6 phases. Almost 172 students benefitted from this program.
As part of the visit, Mr. Rao Muhammad Azhar Ali Khan, Program Director (USAID & BUSP), along with his technical team, held detailed sessions with university officials. The discussions focused on fulfilling program close-out requirements and ensuring the final reconciliation of accounts for the decade-long scholarship initiative.
In recognition of long-standing administrative support, a commemorative shield was presented to the former Director of University Advancement and Financial Aid (UAFA), Mr. Abdul Ghaffar Ali, for his dedicated service to the program.Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Uzma Quraishi appreciated the HEC and USAID for their continued support, noting that the MNBSP has been instrumental in providing quality education to deserving students at LCWU.
