The Department of Applied Psychology, Lahore College for Women University (LCWU), welcomed Dr. Omar Mendoza Mahmood, Clinical Director and Assistant Professor of Clinical and Counseling Psychology at Hamad Bin Khalifa University (HBKU), Qatar, on the invitation of Prof. Dr. Amina Muazzam, Chairperson Department of Applied Psychology.
During the visit, Prof. Dr. Amina Muazzam and Dr. Mahmood held discussions on the status of psychology licensing in Pakistan and Qatar, strategies to strengthen professional standards, and opportunities for collaboration in doctoral education and academic exchange between LCWU and HBKU.
Dr. Mahmood delivered a session on neuropsychological assessment, Islamic psychology, and the role of spirituality in mental health. He also engaged with MS Clinical Psychology and PhD Psychology students, alumni, and faculty in an interactive discussion marked by insightful questions and meaningful academic exchange.
Dr. Mahmood was accompanied by Ms. Ushna and Ms. Shiza, both psychologists, who also participated in the visit.
The delegation later met Prof. Dr. Uzma Qureshi, Vice Chancellor, LCWU, to explore collaboration in new academic programs, research, and faculty and student exchange. The meeting laid the foundation for a future Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between LCWU and HBKU.
The delegation also toured the LCWU campus, praising its lush green environment, cleanliness, and well-maintained facilities. Prof. Dr. Uzma Qureshi commended Prof. Dr. Amina Muazzam for facilitating this international engagement, describing it as a significant step toward strengthening academic and professional collaboration between the two institutions.
