Lahore college for women university is celebrating its 100 years.Since Persian Departmen is one of the pioneers of this historical as well as largest women university of South Asia ,so it opened the ceremonious door to its 100 years celebration by organising an "Unveiling ceremony of Iqbal's sculpture" . The Sculpture of Iqbal is gifted to Persian Department LCWU by Saadi Foundation Iran and Iran Culture Centre Lahore to express Iranians great love and respect for Iqbal. Iqbal has also expressed his deep love and hopes for iran through his poetry.Chief guest of the ceremony was provincial minister of Punjab for Higher Education, Mr. Raja Yasir Hamayun whereas among ather distinguished guests were Consul General Consulat General of the Islamic Republic of Iran , Mr.Muhammad Raza Naziri, Director Iran Culture Centre Lahore Mr. Razai Fard.Worthy Vice Chancellor Lahore College For women university , Prof.Dr.Bushra Mirza ,Deans and Direcors of various departments also graced the function with their presence. A large number of students also attended the ceremony. 
The program started with recitation of Holy Quran,Then the students of Persian Department /Performing Arts &Culture society presented Iqbal's poetry in respect of Prophet Muhammad (S.W) Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr.Bushra Mirza in her welcome address introduced the honourable guest with LCWU's glorious history of achivements and developments ,discussed about problems and obstacles successfully removed by the grace of Allah Almighty and struggle of enthusiastic faculty. She also expressed hope that with the same spirit , enthusiasm and Government's support university will internationally flourish in sha Allah .Then as there was a logo and poster compition also held in connection with LCWU 100 years celebration ,Dr .Masooma Sherazi announced the names of winners .Prof.Dr.Faleeha Zahra Kazmi Chairperson Persian Department thanked the honourable guests and while talking about the importance of persian language said that 75 % of Iqbal's poetry is in persian.she also expressed hope that sculpture of Iqbal will be the source of inspiration for young generation . Mr. Naziri Consul General of Iran in Lahore while sharing his thoughts, said that Iqbal was a great poet , thinker , reformer, economist and politician but his poetry is his best introduction so it should be revived.He added that Ayat ullah Khaminai has declared Iqbal's poetry as a miracle .Then Chief guest Mr. Yasir Hamayun addressed the audience and while appreciating the Love and Cooperation of Iran Government , its people and institutions ,He said that Iqbal is Commonly read, loved and appreciated in Iran and Pakistan. In the end certficates were given to the participants of Logo and poster compition and the Artist of the sculpture Mr. Shehzad Ali, and souvenirs were presented to the honourable guests. The ceremony was followed by a delightful tea.
