Condolence Reference in Commemoration of Former Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Bushra Mateen

On 24 June, 2021 Lahore College for women University in collaboration with Lahore College Associates LCA organized a condolence reference in commemoration of lifetime services of Former VC Professor Dr. Bushra Mateen. She was the first vice-chancellor of LCWU and had also served as the principal for 13 years before the Lahore College was upgraded into a university. She was an Educationist, Researcher, Scientist and also known social activist and member of Punjab Hockey Federation Council.

The Condolence Reference was attended by the immediate family and  various personalities from Education Department such as Ms. Ayesha Ikram the Director General of Human Resource Development HEC  and daughter of Prof. Dr. Bushra Mateen, Dr. Farhat Saleem, Ms. Shahida Sultan, Senior Editor of Jang Group Mr. Wasif Nagi, Secretary Genral of Old Ravian Association GCU Mr. Shebaz Ahmed Sheikh, Prof. Dr. Zikrya Butt, Vice Chancellor of Pakisan Institute of Fashion Design Prof. Ms. Hina Tayyaba Khaleel, Former Vice Chancellor of GCU Prof. Dr. Khaleel ur Rehman, Chairman of PHEC Prof. Dr. Nizam ud Din, LCWU incumbent VC Prof Dr Bushra Mirza, faculty members and employees expressed grief over the death of Dr Bushra Mateen. Pricnicipal of Kinnaird College Prof. Dr. Rukhsana David, Former Vice Chancellor of LCWU Prof. Dr. Sabiha Mansoor, Former Chairman HEC Prof. Dr. Mukhtar Ahmed, and Human Right Activist Prof. Dr. Ahsan Zaffar expressed their memories and grief through video messages and the attendees also lauded the services of late VC. LCWU incumbent VC Prof Dr Bushra Mirza, faculty members and employees expressed grief over the sad demise of Dr. Bushra Mateen and the ceremony was hosted but Head of Department of Mass Communication Prof. Dr. Anjum Zia.

Presiding over the reference, Prof. Dr. Bushra Mirza, the worthy Vice Chancellor of LCWU said that her death was a great loss for us, which can never be repaid. We’re going to build a LCWU History Museum and a portion of it would be dedicated to Prof. Dr. Bushra Mateen to collect, preserve her success stories & achievement. She also said that her legacy will stand as an example to all of us to persist in our pursuit of progress. We would gather glory from her glory.

The ceremony was ended with prayer and words of sympathy.  We pray the departed soul may rest in eternal peace and Almighty Allah grant courage to the bereaved family to bear this irreparable loss.
