Seminar on the ‘Role of Islamic banking in Business’

Faculty of Management & Administrative Sciences has organized a seminar on the ‘Role of Islamic banking in Business’ on 13th October, 2021 (Wednesday) at seminar hall of the department. The purpose of this seminar was to make our students understand the difference between conventional and Islamic banking practices.

The seminar started with the recitation of Holy Quran. Then respected head of the department Dr.Muhammad Fiaz welcomed the honorable guest speaker ‘ Mr. Uzair Ashraf Usmani’. Mr. Uzair usmani has graduated as a sharia scholar and hold double master’s degree in Arabic and Islamic studies and has specialized in (Takhassusfilifta) Islamic Fiqh and fatwa writing (Mufti) from Jamia Dar ul-Uloom Karachi.  Mr. Uzair usmani is also associated with Meezan Bank Pvt Ltd) as Sharia scholar. He is also associated with Institute of bankers of Pakistan IBP (subsidiary of state bank) as visiting faculty member. He is also associated with Accounting and Auditing Organization.
 
It was a very informative and engaging session with the students. Mr.Uzair explained the purposes of the Islamic banking and its various modes with the help of real world examples in a befitting manner. He also elaborated the critical role of Islamic banking in today’s world and its importance. He also discussed the different forms of interest free funding opportunities which Meezan bank is currently providing to its customers. These funding opportunities can be very beneficial for our final year students who are working on their business / entrepreneurial ideas.
 
At the end of the seminar, after question answer session of the students, a souvenir was presented to the guest speaker.
