The 5th International Conference on Emerging Trends in Physics began on February 10, 2026, at Lahore College for Women University (LCWU), Lahore. The conference was organized by the Department of Physics in collaboration with the National Institute of Lasers and Optronics (NILOP), Islamabad.
The opening ceremony, held at Iqra Auditorium, was inaugurated by the Patron-in-Chief, Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Uzma Quraishi. In her inaugural address, she emphasized the importance of strengthening research culture, promoting innovation, and fostering international collaboration to address emerging scientific and technological challenges.
The ceremony was graced by the Chief Guest, Prof. Dr. Shazia Bashir, Vice Chancellor of Government College Women University Sialkot, and Prof. Dr. Manzoor Ikram, Conference Co-Chair and Director General, NILOP, Pakistan Atomic Energy Commission, Islamabad. Prof. Dr. Safia Anjum, Conference Chair, and Prof. Dr. Zohra Nazir , welcomed the participants and outlined the conference objectives, emphasizing the importance of fostering collaboration, strengthening research networks, and encouraging young researchers to engage in emerging areas of physics.
The conference brought together more than 300 national and international participants, including researchers, faculty members, and scholars from universities and research institutions across Pakistan, as well as invited speakers from the United States, the United Kingdom, China, Saudi Arabia, Italy, and Ireland, who joined both in person and online. The strong participation reflected the growing global interest in emerging areas of physics and interdisciplinary research.
Following the ceremony, conference guests, judges, and participants attended the poster session, which featured research contributions from students and early-career researchers representing multiple universities across Pakistan. The session provided an active forum for discussion, feedback, and networking.
