Global Perspective on Statistics: Prof. Fabrizio Ruggeri Addresses LCWU Seminar
The Laboratory for Interdisciplinary Statistical Analysis (LISA), LCWU, in collaboration with the Department of Statistics, successfully organized a seminar titled “Statistics for Change: Empowering the Next Generation of Women in Statistics” on April 21, 2026, at the Student Service Centre, LCWU.
The seminar featured Prof. Fabrizio Ruggeri, President of the International Statistical Institute (ISI), as the distinguished resource person. In his address, he highlighted the transformative role of statistics in addressing real-world challenges and emphasized the importance of empowering women to assume leadership roles in the field. He also outlined the mission and vision of ISI and discussed the contributions of its associations and committees, particularly in advancing statistical capacity in developing countries.
The event attracted active participation from students, faculty, alumni, and researchers, fostering a vibrant academic environment and constructive dialogue.
At the conclusion of the seminar, the Head of the Department, Dr. Asifa Kamal, presented a souvenir to Prof. Ruggeri in appreciation of his valuable contribution.
