On 6th May 2026, ORIC, LCWU, facilitated the signing ceremony of a Letter of Intent (LOI) with the Flood Forecasting Division of the Pakistan Meteorological Department. Dr. Nausheen Mazhar served as the focal person for the LOI from LCWU and coordinated the collaboration between both institutions.
The LOI was formally signed by Vice Chancellor LCWU, Prof. Dr. Uzma Qureshi and Chief Meteorologist Dr. Zaheer Ahmad Babar, in the presence of Muhammad Aleem ul Hassan (Director) and Saqib Hussain (Deputy Director) from the Pakistan Meteorological Department, Dr. Saima Sharif (Director ORIC) and Dr. Nausheen Mazhar (Chairperson Geography and Head IRC, DFDI), from LCWU as witnesses.
The partnership aims to strengthen academic and research cooperation in climate change, remote sensing, flood forecasting, and natural disaster management. The agreement will also provide opportunities for internships, data interpretation training, modelling techniques, and collaborative climate-oriented research for LCWU students and researchers.The collaboration reflects a shared commitment towards advancing scientific research and enhancing climate resilience and disaster preparedness in Pakistan.
