14 June 2026: The Department of Geography, Lahore College for Women University (LCWU), signed a Letter of Intent (LoI) with the National Centre of Excellence in Geology (NCEG), University of Peshawar, to strengthen academic and research collaboration between the two institutions.
LoI signing ceremony was held during the closing ceremony of 8th International Conference on Earth Science Pakistan 2026, held at the Baragali Summer Campus, University of Peshawar. It was attended by distinguished dignitaries, including Dr. Muhammad Israr, Secretary, Mines and Minerals Department, Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Dr. Muhammad Farooq Khan, Additional Secretary, Higher Education Department, Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Mr. Zulfiqar Ali Samin, Deputy Secretary (Coordination/Council/Legal), Ministry of Federal Education and Professional Training, Islamabad, and Prof. Dr. Mark van der Meijde, University of Twente, the Netherlands. The LoI was signed by the Director, National Centre of Excellence in Geology, University of Peshawar, and the Chairperson, Department of Geography, Lahore College for Women University.
The collaboration will promote joint research activities, facilitate access to laboratory facilities, encourage joint supervision of students, organise academic events, and strengthen long-term academic cooperation between the two institutions.
