PhD Geography Scholar Ms. Nimra Arshad and Dr. Nausheen Mazhar, Chairperson, Department of Geography, represented Lahore College for Women University (LCWU) at the LOK Sahaita STEM Talent Search 2026 with their innovative project that used satellite data to develop a dynamic, dashboard-based approach for monitoring smog and pollutant variability during the smog season, supporting more informed air-quality management in Punjab.

The event featured a project display and evaluation at the Karachi Expo Centre . On Day 1, projects were evaluated by a distinguished jury comprising experts from academia, business, and industry, while Day 2 was open to the public for project display and interaction.

The Grand Finale and Award Ceremony was held on September 6, 2026, at the Arts Council of Pakistan, Karachi. The LCWU team was honoured with the Technical Excellence Award, presented by the Honourable Chief Justice of the Sindh High Court, along with a cash prize of Rs. 100,000. Gold Medals were also awarded to both team members, Ms. Nimra Arshad and Dr. Nausheen Mazhar, in recognition of their achievement.

This accomplishment highlights LCWU's commitment to innovative, technology-driven research and its contribution to addressing critical environmental challenges through geospatial technologies and satellite-based Earth observation.
