Pink Week – Breast Cancer Awareness Session and Medical Camp

Under the leadership of the Worthy Vice Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Uzma Quraishi, the Women Development Centre (WDC), Lahore College for Women University (LCWU), in collaboration with the Directorate of Students Affairs, Dr. Essa Laboratory & Diagnostic Centre, Defeat Cancer, and Nutriful, organised a breast cancer awareness session and medical camp on 13 October 2026 at LCWU.

Dr. Rukhsana Bashir, Research Scientist at the Pakistan Institute of Living and Learning, delivered an awareness session highlighting the importance of early detection and prevention of breast cancer. Mr. Tasleem, Head of Marketing at Dr. Essa Laboratory, briefed participants on the laboratory’s medical services and emphasised the need for continued health awareness initiatives. Prof. Dr. Amina Moazzam, Director of WILL, also attended the session and extended her support.

The medical camp provided basic health screening, including calcium and skin screening, diagnostic tests, and free medical consultations. A medicine corner offered medicines, including calcium supplements, while Nutriful showcased nutritional products and supplements. The GDS Society and GEMS Society facilitated the session and supported the event through coordination and student engagement.

Organised as part of Pink Week, the initiative aimed to promote breast cancer awareness, encourage early detection, and strengthen preventive healthcare practices within the university community.
