3 Day training Session for teaching faculty on “Syllabus Writing”

Directorate of Faculty Development & Internationalization, LCWU organized 3 Day training Session for teaching faculty on “Syllabus Writing” by Dr.Asma Shahid Kazi  & Ms. Shagufta Moghal Department of Professional Studies, Institute of Education from November 24th – 26th, 2020. The faculty from various Departments of Lahore College for Women University attended the workshop.

 

Learning Session on “Handling of Departmental Budget”

Directorate of Faculty Development & Internationalization, LCWU organized the 2 hour Learning Session on “Handling of Departmental Budget” by Mr. Riaz (Treasurer LCWU), Mr. Faisal (Auditor LCWU), Dr. Nisar Bazmi ( Budget & Finance Officer ) on Wednesday, 28th October 2020. It was a very informative and engaging session. The session attended by the all Heads of Department of Lahore College for Women University.

Seminar on “The Application of Statistical Methods in Bio-Sciences and Management Sciences”

A seminar was conducted by Department of Statistics in collaboration with DFDI entitled “The Application of Statistical Methods in Bio-Sciences and Management Sciences” on March 26, 2018. The objective of the seminar was to stress the importance of statistics in interdisciplinary research especially in Bio-Sciences and Management Sciences.
 
Dr. Sharoon Hanook, Chairperson Department of Statistics Forman Christian College highlighted the important aspects of Bio-Statistics to the faculty and students of LCWU. Whereas the guest speaker Dr. Sharjeel Saleem from Department of Management Sciences, Government College University Faisalabad explained 'Factor Analysis, CFA, EFA and SEM techniques with the help of software AMOS'.
The One-day seminar was informative for the participants and DFDI was appreciated for its efforts to organize such worth attending academic sessions for LCWU researchers. 

Two-Day session by Dr. Anita M. Weiss

Directorate of Faculty Development & Internationalization, LCWU organized a Two-Day session by Dr. Anita M. Weiss, Professor University of Oregon on 31st  January  and 1st February, 2018. On the First day she gave a presentation on her new book “Interpreting Islam, Modernity and Women’s Rights in Pakistan and on the second day she delivered a lecture on "conducting Research" for Mphil and PhD students which included issues such as drafting a conceptual research idea, what is an abstract and a literature review, plagiarism and other Qualitative research methods.

These informative and useful sessions were attended by the faculty and students of Management Science, Economics, Gender& Development Studies, Political Science, IR, English, Computer Science, Psychology, TESOL, Textile Design and Mass Communication Department. Faculty from Virtual University were also part of this 2-day session.

A five day “Research Colloquium”

Directorate of Faculty Development (DFDI), International Resource Center (IRC) has organized a five day “Research Colloquium” for students of Management Sciences, Humanities, Social Sciences and other institutes from Monday 23rd to Friday 27th October 2017.
The Vice Chancellor, Dr. Uzma Qureshi addressed the opening ceremony. She appreciated the efforts of DFDI and encouraged the research students, to take maximum benefit from this research colloquium. A number of experts delivered lectures on this 5-day event, these included Prof. Dr Cursow Dubash, Vice Rector of FCCU, (Literature Review Techniques and Time Management) Dr. Zeeshan Sheikh, IRP (NVIVO for literature analysis), Prof. Dr. Tahira Mughal, Controller Examination/Head, Environmental Science department. LCWU (How to survive your PHD), Ms. Tehzeeba, Applied Psychology department (Stress Management). LCWU, Dr. Khuda Baksh, Comsats, Vehari Campus (Interpreting Statistical tests), Dr. Nadia Kanwal and Dr. Mariam Rehman, Computer Science department. LCWU (Thesis writing and bibliographic tools and techniques) and Prof. Dr. Khalid Mehmood, Information Sciences department, Punjab University (Information Management).

Almost 120 PhD and MS research students from LCWU and other universities attended this colloquium. There were 18 paper presenters out which 1 was from Kinnard College and 3 of the researchers were from University of Management and Technology while 15 presenters were from different departments of LCWU.
The closing ceremony was graced by Dr. Nizamuddin, Chairman, Punjab Higher Education Commission and Prof. Dr. Uzma Qureshi, Vice Chancellor, LCWU. The chief guest distributed the certificates among paper presenters and resource persons. Dr. Nizam highly appreciated the efforts to bring researchers from other universities together and the organizing committee comprised of Dr. Masooma Abbas, Director DFDI, Dr. Nadia Kanwal, Head, IRC and Ms. Umber Javaid, Coordinator.  A much-appreciated support was provided by Ms. Tooba, Ms. Tayyaba, Ms. Seerat, Mr. Abid, Mr. Haroon and Mr. Shakeel.

Pre-launch briefing session of Faculty Development Program by HEC

A pre-launch briefing session of Faculty Development Program by HEC was conducted at Lahore College for Women University. The purpose of the session was to introduce a new program specifically designed for non-PhD faculty of Pakistani Universities. The objective is to enable non-PhD faculty members to contribute in the research outcome of the universities through international collaborations. A short presentation was given by Dr. Nadia Kanwal, Head IRC, DFDI. All HODs and HEC approved supervisors attended the meeting. Presentation was followed by rigorous discussion on the matter. A number of suggestions were shared by the respected faculty members which will be conveyed to the concerned department at HEC.

Lecture on “Personal Happiness is a Choice”

Faculty Development Centre, DFDI is organizing a monthly 2 hour lecture for Senior Management of LCWU (BPS 19 – 21), which includes Deans , Directors and HODs + Registrar/Treasurer/Controller Examination/ Principal only.
In this regard FDC arranged the second lecture on “Personal Happiness is a Choice” by Ms. Samia Saleem (Additional Director General, LDA) on Tuesday 25th, April, 2017.

Workshop on “Language Usage Competency”

Faculty Development Centre, DFDI organized a 3 Day workshop on “Language Usage Competency”  for teaching staff of LCWU by Ms. Samina Ayub, Lecturer at English Department. This is the replication of 28th Master Trainer Training by HEC.

Nestlé Healthy Women Programme Batch 2

In collaboration with Nestlé Pakistan International Resource Centre (IRC), Directorate of Faculty Development & Internationalization organized a nutrition awareness session batch 2 on Wednesday,19th April, 2017.
At the end students were encouraged to take a quiz as a qualifying step towards winning an internship opportunity at Nestle.Pvt.Ltd.

Session on “Qualitative Research in Education” 

Faculty Development Centre, DFDI organized a 2 hour session on “Qualitative Research in Education” on Monday, 3rd April, 2017 for the Faculty & PhD. Students of Institute of Education, LCWU by Dr. Tehmina Basit, Professor of Education, Director of the Institute for Education Policy Research (IEPR), Chair of the Faculty Research Degrees Sub-Committee at Staffordshire University, U.K.

Session on “THE POWER OF POSITIVE THINKING”

Workshop on Disability, Equality & Confidence

Directorate of Faculty Development & Internationalisation, LCWU organised a workshop on Disability, Equality & Confidence on Thursday 16th February, 2017 conducted by Mr. Waqas Chauhdry a passionate supporter of disability rights and diversity issue. Waqas is an international speaker and the Managing Director of DEO Consultancy UK.

It was a very informative, motivating and engaging session duly appreciated by Dr. Rukhsana Kauser, Vice Chancellor LCWU. Students and members of Independent Living Centre, and faculty of LCWU from various Departments attended and benefited from the workshop.

Closing Ceremony of Transforming English Language Skills at LCWU

In pursuit of excellence and professional development Faculty Development Centre, Lahore College for Women University in collaboration with Learning Innovation Division, HEC organised a five-day training workshop from 6th – 10th February, 2017 for its teaching faculty.  Master Trainer Training module under Transforming English Language Skills (TELS) program was funded by Higher Education Commission.

The Certificate Award Ceremony was chaired by Mr. Fida Hussain Director General, Learning Innovation Division HEC, Islamabad who distributed the certificates to the resource persons and the participants of the course. He congratulated the participants for their commitment and keenness for their professional development. 

Prof. Dr. Rukhsana Kausar, the Vice Chancellor thanked the Higher Education Commission for facilitating in conducting the training at LCWU and mentioned that LCWU is delighted to hold such events that aids in capacity building and professional development of its faculty. 

Three weeks training course by Prof Dr. Muhammad Sarfraz under PPQP

A three weeks long training was organized by International Resource Center of Directorate of Faculty Development and Internationalization at LCWU. Presidential program for the care of Highly Qualified Pakistani’s (PPQP)  facilitated the visit of Prof Dr. Muhammad Sarfraz, V. Dean of Research, Kuwait University for Lahore College for Women University.

With more than 35 years of experience, Dr. Sarfraz is a known researcher in the field of Computer Vision and Pattern Recognition. He delivered lectures related to teaching methodologies in vision and its related domains. Furthermore, his lectures on enhancing research skills, professional ethics in teaching and research enlightened the vision of LCWU’s students and faculty.

A Free Eye Clinic was arranged by International Resource Center of Directorate of Faculty Development and Internationalization (DFDI), Lahore College for Women University. The purpose of this activity was to promote healthy environment of the University by making staff and students aware of their health. It is to invest in people by taking care of them.

Dr. Muhammad Ali Ayaz Sadiq, Assistant Professor Ophthalmology, King Edward Medical University, Lahore and Dr. Muhammad Irfan karamat, Medical Officer, Ophthalmology Unit III, Mayo Hospital, Lahore examined the staff and students and provided them with prescription along with advices to keep their eye healthy.

Our Students have won internship at Nestle Pakistan

DFDI team is pleased to announce that two of our students have won internship at Nestle Pakistan going through a three step selection procedure. The Nutrition awareness program of Nestle Pakistan was launched in November 2016 and now we are in the process of finalizing an MOU between LCWU and Nestle Pakistan to make it a regular practice every year.

Training on Elsevier Products (Science Direct, Scopus)

International Resource Center of Directorate of Faculty Development and Internationalization (DFDI), Lahore College for Women University organized a hands-on training on Elsevier Products (Science Direct, Scopus) along with other digital resources. The session took place at Computer Lab in the Department of Computer Science.

Resource persons from A&J Def Consultants namely Mr.Rashid Pervez and Mr. Majid Lodhi conducted the session. They trained the students and faculty members in using different database of journals and books. These include Scopus, Science Direct and ProQuest, freely available to the students of public sector universities during their trial period. Students along with faculty from Natural sciences, Engineering and Technology attended the session. Students were also made aware of the Science Direct Quiz which students can attempt till March 31, 2017 and win exciting prizes. At the end Dr. Masooma Abbas, Director DFDI and Dr. Nadia Kanwal, Digital Library Coordinator, LCWU distributed gifts sponsored by A&J Def Consultants to the luck draw winners (Students).

Research Colloquium

Directorate of Faculty Development and Internationalization (DFDI) of Lahore College for Women University organized a research colloquium from 16th to 19th January, 2017 for Natural Sciences, Engineering and Technology.

This was a learning, teaching and research program, for the students enrolled in PhD and PhD faculty to further promote research in the institution and in Pakistan. In this event speakers from national and international organizations of esteemed repute gave lectures from which PhD students and faculty members were benefited. Dr. Rukhasana Kausar, Vice Chancellor, Lahore College for Women University also attended this four day event. She appreciated the efforts of DFDI for further promoting a research atmosphere in the institute. She extended her full support to all the students and all those involved in research activities. She highly appreciated all the PhD students who presented their papers in the colloquium. International speakers who gave lectures were Dr. Muhammad Sarfraz  form Kuwait University ad Dr. Sean Moran from Waterford University, Ireland. They gave valuable information to the audience on the art of publication and how to write high quality research papers. Dr. Hamid Saeed, from Punjan University, Dr. Shagufta Naz, Director Research, LCWU and Dr. Farkhanda Manzoor , Head Zoology Department, LCWU and Mr. Farzoq Chaudhary from Pakistan institute of management were the guest speakers.

Dr. Shagufta Naz elaborated the research policies of LCWU to the audience which was followed by rigorous question/answer session. Dr. Farkhanda Manzoor highlighted professional research ethics; she explained the importance of copyright act and plagiarism in research. PhD scholars from the department of chemistry, physics, mathematics, and biotechnology and computer science presented their research articles. In the closing ceremony worthy Vice Chancellor, LCWU presented certificates to the participants, guest speakers and those who attended the colloquium. She congratulated the DFDI team for organizing this research colloquium.

Making Better Decisions Complex Tasks

International Resource Centre (IRC), Directorate of Faculty Development & Internationalization, LCWU organized a Lecture on “Making Better Decisions Complex Tasks” by Dr. Hassan QudratUllah, Full Professor of Decision Sciences, School of Administrative Studies, York University on Thursday, December 08, 2016.
It was a very informative and engaging session by Dr. Qudratullah. The very informative session attended by the Students of Management Sciences, Public Administration Department  and faculty from various Departments of Lahore College for Women University.

Visit of Chirstopher Marshal British Council’s - Global Justice

On 6th December 2016 the  guest was Chirstopher Marshal British Council’s - Global Justice with Mr. Talha Chishti (British Council) visited LCWU. Mr Chirstopher Marshal met Dr. Uzma Qureshi (Vice Chancellor, Lahore College for Women University) and discussed future prospects of linkages and collaboration with UK universities and organizations. Afterwards Mr Chirstopher Marshal chaired a session for ACP students.  Dr. Humaira M.Khan (Head, ACP) she introduced Dr. Masooma Abbas (Director, DFDI), Ms. Sabahat Khan (Admin Assistant, ACP) to the honorable guest. Then the ACP students introduced themselves to the guests and talked about their SAPs. In the end Mr. Marshal addressed the students and shared his views.

 

Visit of 6 ACP students to meet British High Commissioner

The British High Commissioner and the Vice Chancellor of Government College University Lahore invited 6 ACP students from Lahore College for Women University for an address by Mr. Boris Johnson (British High Government Minister) on Friday 25th November 2016 at Government College University Lahore Ms. Sabahat Khan (Admin Assistant, ACP) with 5 students attended this event.

Quiz Competition

International Resource Centre (IRC), Directorate of Faculty Development & Internationalization, LCWU in collaboration with Nestlé Pakistan organized a conventional quiz on 18th November,2016 as a qualifying step towards winning an internship opportunity at Nestle.Pvt.Ltd.

ACP Orientation sessions

ACP Orientation sessions of all the departments of LCWU and Affiliated Colleges were held from 8th – 10th November 2016. Dr. Humaira M. Khan (Head, ACP) started the session by giving the introduction of Active Citizens Programme to the students. Dr. Masooma Abbas (Director, DFDI), Ms. Sabahat Khan (Admin Assistant, ACP), Mr. Talha Chishti (British Council) and Mr. Umair Ali (British Council), Mr Shahid (Akhuwat Foundation), Mr. Lord Shaukat from UK and ACP students Sidra Irshad (Institute of Pharmacy), Rukhsar Fatima (Department of Education) and Tayyaba Rehman (Department of English Literature) also shared their experiences and successful stories.

Nutrition Awareness Session

A nutrition awareness session took place at IT Conference room of LCWU organized by International Resource Centre (IRC), Directorate of Faculty Development & Internationalization, LCWU in collaboration with Nestlé Pakistan. Dr. Shazia along with an enthusiastic team of Nestle Pvt.Ltd. conducted this session. At the end students were encouraged to take a quiz as a qualifying step towards winning an internship opportunity at Nestle.Pvt.Ltd.

ACP Facilitators Meeting session 2016-2017 was held on Thursday, 27th October 2016. Meeting was started with the recitation of Holy Quran by Mr. Abid Hameed. Dr Masooma Abbas (Director, DFDI) addressed the meeting and introduced the guest from British Council; Mr. Talha Chishti (British Council) and Mr. Umair Ali (British Council). Dr. Masooma Abbas also introduced the new faculty of Active Citizens Programme Dr. Humaira M. Khan (Head, ACP) and Ms. Sabahat Khan (Admin Assistant, ACP). The following agenda was discussed: the format of ACP, Selection of the undergraduate ACP batch, Room allocation, Time Schedule, Facilitator in charge, Date/Week of launch of ACP in departments, Selection of Focal person, Student Data. (Sent as email attachment verified by the HOD), Registration of ACP students and Facilitators on the BC web portal.

Workshop on “LCWU Semester System Examination Policy and Online Entry of Award List”

Directorate of Faculty Development & Internationalization, LCWU organized various sessions on “LCWU Semester System Examination Policy and Online Entry of Award List” from 07th September- 28th October, 2016 by Dr. Tahira Mughul, Controller Examination, LCWU assisted by Mr. Awais from Exam Branch LCWU.

The faculty from all Departments of Lahore College for Women University and the faculty from affiliated Collages attended the workshop.

The aim of these training sessions was to create awareness regarding revised rules of LCWU and operating online award lists entry system.

Workshop on SPSS advance level (Phase II)

Directorate of Faculty Development & Internationalization, LCWU organized a 3-Week Workshop on SPSS- advance level (Phase II) from 20th September- 25th October, 2016 by Dr. Asifa Kamal, Assistant Professor Statistics Department, LCWU.


The faculty from various Departments of Lahore College for Women University attended the workshop.

In this workshop Dr. Asifa Kamal taught the participants about Factor Analysis, Multiple Linear Regression Analysis, Categorical Regression Models, Survival Data Analysis, Introduction to STATA.

ACP Training of Facilitators

ACP Facilitators Training including Affiliated Colleges from 26th – 29th September 2016 at Committee Room. Ms. Asma Fakhr (Head, ACP) introduced the members of British Council (BC) and Ms. Sabahat Khan (Admin Assistant, ACP). Mr. Umair Ali (British Council), Mr. Uzair (British Council) and Mr. Saqib (British Council) conducted this training.

1 day Seminar by Participants of PHEC In-Service Short Term Training Program

As per SOP’s of Punjab HEC In-Service Short Term Training Program held from 16th to 20th May 2016 at LCWU, each participant of this training have conducted a ‘One Day’ seminar on Andragogical Skills  and Communication Skills by engaging peers and students of their respective departments from 19th September – 04th October, 2016. We are once again grateful for providing us this opportunity at LCWU.

‘In-Service Short Term Training for University Faculty

Directorate of Faculty Development & Internationalization jointly with Punjab Higher Education Commission (PHEC) organized a 5-Day ‘In-Service Short Term Training for University Faculty’ from 16th to 20th May 2016. The Training comprised of 14 sessions included Ten sessions on Andragogical Skills with a special focus on Three Sessions of Micro Teaching and Four Sessions on Communication Skills.

PHEC Resource Persons for the Training were Dr. Nusra Inayat, Dr. Bashir Gondal, and Dr. Moafia Nader who conducted engaging sessions on Andragogigcal Skills highlighting the importance of teaching techniques for adults. Dr. Farhana Khurshid shared valuable Communication skill ideas with the Faculty. The participants highly appreciated the conducive environment of learning provided by Faculty Development Centre.

With a formal Closing Ceremony the Training completed successfully and the participants thanked Punjab Higher Education Commission for conducting and providing the opportunity at Lahore College for Women University.

Workshop on SPSS

Directorate of Faculty Development & Internationalization, LCWU organized a 3-Weeks Workshop on SPSS (Phase I) from 11th – 29th April, 2016 by Dr. Asifa Kamal, Assistant Professor Statistics Department, LCWU.



The faculty from various Departments of Lahore College for Women University attended the workshop.

In this workshop Dr. Asifa Kamal taught the participants about Descriptive Statistics, Statistical Testing’s and Regression Models which was an enriching learning experience for the participants.


Directorate of Faculty Development & Internationalization jointly with the Department of Professional Studies, Institute of Education, LCWU organized a Session on “Pehchan: Know yourself if you want to stay Alive” on 14th April 2016 at 11:30 am by Mr. Khurram Ali Shafique. It is based on his groundbreaking published research “Iqbal: His Life and Our Times. He is the recipient of the Presidential Iqbal award for his work "Iqbal: an Illustrated Biography."

The faculty from various Departments of Lahore College for Women University took interest and enjoyed the session. The Resource Person with the help of presentation and video clips evoked the spirit of identity and patriotism among the participants.  


Directorate of Faculty Development & Internationalization organized a 3-Day Seminar “Perception of Practice” jointly with the Graphic Arts Department, IVAD on 11th, 12th and 13th April 2016 by Dr. Ahmed Bilal, Assistant Professor in the College of Art & Design, University of the Punjab. The Seminar included workshop for both the faculty and Students of Lahore College for Women University and College of Art & Design, University of the Punjab.

Renowned Speakers graced the occasion with their presence, including Mr. Amjad Islam Amjad, Mr. Shahnawaz Zaidi, Mr. Arooj Samdani and Munnu Bhai. Dr. Ahmed Bilal shared his pioneering research in filmmaking “Technological Impact on the Art of Moviemaking: Pakistani Cinema”. The 3-Day Seminar was a blend of research presentations, discussions, reviews and critical analysis by the experts and screening of exemplary work of the participants.

Awareness Seminar on HIV/AIDS

International Resource Center, Directorate of Faculty Development & Internationalization (DFDI), Lahore College for Women University in collaboration with Punjab AIDS Control Program (PACP), Government of the Punjab, Health Department has organized an "Awareness Seminar on HIV/AIDS" at Lahore College for Women University, Lahore. On behalf of Dr.Uzma Qureshi, Vice Chancellor of LCWU, Dr.Sarah Shahid (Director Women Institute for Leadership and Learning), Lahore College for Women University was the Chief Guest.

Mr. Mohammad Faisal Majeed, Deputy Project Director, PACP presented the audience about the situation of HIV/AIDS epidemic in the province. He informed that Punjab AIDS Control Program is leading the Provincial AIDS Response and is providing preventive, diagnostic and treatment services. The Government of the Punjab is fully committed to provide funding for prevention and treatment of AIDS.

Dr.Sarah Shahid (Director Women Institute for Leadership and Learning) present the appreciation shield of LCWU to the team of Punjab Aids Control Program.

Ms. Qudsia Nashee, Clinical Psychologists presented the presentation on “HIV/AIDS—Myths and Facts” which is followed by an interesting quiz in which students show very keenness and take part in the quiz also won the prizes given by Punjab Aids Control Program. Punjab Aids Control Program also awarded the shields to the faculty of LCWU who attended the seminar.

Education in the 21st Century

Directorate of Faculty Development & Internationalization organised a 4-week Course from 1st to 25th February 2016 “Education in the 21st Century” by Dr. Qaisar Sultana, Professor Emeritus, Fulbright Scholar, Department of Special Education Eastern Kentucky University USA and Consultant to the United Nations Development Program and the World Health Organisation. Faculty and students attended the course from the host University.


In this course Dr. Qaisar Sultana taught the participants about essential elements of teaching required in the 21st Century. Interactive sessions and discussions related to effective pedagogical skills and characteristics of effective Teachers were an enormous learning experience for all the participants.

Certificate Distribution Ceremony for Indigenous On-Campus Training at LCWU

The Three-week training ‘Indigenous ON-Campus Training Phase II under HEC Modern University Governance Programme’ organized by Directorate of Faculty Development and internationalisation at Lahore College for Women University, concluded with a Certificate Distribution Ceremony on 21st January, 2015.The Advisor of LCWU, Professor Ms. Naushaba Farooq welcomed the audience and shared the achievements of the institution, particularly with respect to faculty development.

LCWU's senior management distributed the certificates among the participants and trainers for this training. They applauded the endeavors of the faculty, congratulated the participants as well as the resource persons for their commitment to learning. They appreciated the faculty development efforts of LCWU and apprised the audience of the contribution of HEC in strengthening the growing number of public and private sector universities of Pakistan.

Academic Quality Assurance with Outcome-based Education: challenges & prospectus

Directorate of Faculty Development and Internationalization (DFDI)  in collaboration with Quality Enhancement Cell (QEC) department of Lahore College for Women University, organized a seminar on “Academic Quality Assurance with Outcome-based Education: challenges & prospectus” by Dr. Kamran Moosa ,Chief Executive PIQC Institute of Quality, on Thursday 17th, December, 2015.


Dr. Kamran Moosa apprised the audience not only of the statistical data of the development in the field of education on global level but also how the current pedagogy can be improved through training and willingness to change for betterment. The need for moving towards outcome-based education as well as the ultimate product – the graduate- of the university was highlighted. The role of a teacher at Higher Education level was also discussed in this speedily evolving time in terms of accountability and acceptance of change. Part of the presentation pinpointed the features of a well- planned curriculum with specified student learning outcomes besides the designing of question papers according to Bloom’s Taxonomy.

Dr. Kamran Moosa is a renowned specialist in Quality assurance and management at national as well as International level. This informative seminar was attended by a large number of members of LCWU faculty who duly appreciated the content as well as the effective delivery of that content.

Dr. Moosa’s knowledge, experience, wit and real life examples captivated the audience throughout the event. It was an interactive seminar that concluded with a question answer session.  LCWU’s Controller Examination Dr. Tahira Mughal presented Dr. Moosa with the souvenir.

Certificate Distribution Ceremony

Project management is a demanding process which requires adequate skills for the efficient use of resources and time and then a time to time training in order to upgrade the skills as well as knowledge. A comprehensive training session was conducted at LCWU for the academic as well as non-academic members of the faculty, organized by Faculty Development Center of Directorate of Faculty Development and Internationalization.


Conclusively, the Certificate Award Ceremony was organized and Dr. Muhammad Nizamuddin, Chairman HEC, Punjab graced the occasion as the Chief guest who gave away the certificates to the participants of the course. He congratulated the participants for their commitment and keenness for their professional development. Dr. Uzma Qureshi, the Vice Chancellor of LCWU apprised him of the progressive approach for the faculty development in the university.

In pursuit of excellence and further development, Lahore College for Women University’s Directorate of Faculty Development and Internationalisation (DFDI) in collaboration with Learning and Innovation Division, HEC arranged the inaugural of second phase of three sets of five day training workshops on ‘Indigenous On Campus Training under Modern University Governance Programme at LCWU for the University's Non-Teaching Staff and Teaching Staff involved in management.

The Vice Chancellor Dr. Uzma Qureshi welcomed the guests as well as the participants  appreciating their keeness for learning. She highlighted the importance of training and development for working professionals. Mr. Shafique Ahmed Uquailli, Chief HR, Allied Banks presenting the first workshop on Human Resoure Management, inaugurated the event. Dr. Uzma Qureshi presented him with a momento and sheild towards the conclusion of the event.

Such a unique event harbingers the fact that learning is meant for all members of the faculty at educational institutions. Indeed a trained administrative staff would lead to more efficient functioning of offices and institutions resulting in more effective utilization of time and human resource as well as improved practice.

Workshop on Research Methods & Research Supervision Skills

Directorate of Faculty Development & Internationalisa-tion organized workshops on “Research Methods” and "Research supervi-sion Skills" on April 2nd &7th, respectively by Dr. Tehmina Basit, Professor of Education, Director, Institute for Education Policy Research and faculty of Business and Law at Staffordshire University, U.K.

Dr. Tehmina Basit apprised the participants of different dimensions and dynamics of research - particularly qualitative research methodology. Not only did she involve the audience in various interactive activities but she also shared valuable information through PPT presentation. In the se-cond session, she shared information about research supervisory skills. A total of 60 researchers and research supervisors attended the two trainings and found them to be of significant importance and value to their research and supervisory role at LCWU.

Workshop on “Teaching Gen Y Creatively”

Directorate of Faculty Development & Internationalisation organized 1 day course on “Teaching Gen Y Creatively” by Mr. Wali Zahid, CEO Skill City on March 31st & April 1st, 2015. The course was attended by the teaching faculty of LCWU and F.C College University.

In this workshop Mr. Wali Zahid taught the participants about recognizing why and how Generation Y learn differently, become familiar with creative learning methods beyond lecture & PPt, design & deliver successful, Gen Y learner-centred modules, manage individual learners and groups on-class and off-class effectively, which was an enriching enormous learning experience for all the participants.

Workshop on “Academic Writing for Publication”

Directorate of Faculty Development & Internationalisation organized 1 credit hour 3 day course from 04th - 06th March , 2015 on “Academic Writing for Publication” by Dr. Seemi Aziz, Visiting Professor University of Arizona College of Education Specialist, Global Cultures, Literacy and Literature Worlds of Words. The course was attended by faculty and students from the host University and F.C College University.

In this workshop Dr. Seemi Aziz taught the participants about Selection of Topic, Designing your plan for writing, Starting your article, Reviewing the related literature, Strengthening your structure, Presenting your evidence, Opening and concluding your article, Editing your fluency & Wrapping up your article which was an enriching enormous learning experience for all the participants.

Workshop on “Evaluation & Adaptation of Prescribed Textbooks for Classroom Use”

Directorate of Faculty Development & Internationalisation organized one week training from 23rd to 27th February, 2015 on “Evaluation & Adaptation of Prescribed Textbooks for Classroom Use” by Professor. Zakia Sarwar,Hon. Executive Director of Society of Pakistan English Language Teachers (SPELT) for the faculty of English, TESOL, ICE and ELT Education, Lahore College for Women University.
